For some reason all everyone remembers is the 40th anniversary 996 which is the least desirable Porsche of all time and so the odd one out.
These are actual sale prices or dealership asking prices?

Actually its advertised as POA (all his cars are) but that's what was quoted a couple of weeks ago. It is the only 25th anniversary cab in states for sale so doubt you get any change out of it. Asking price is at least 40% higher than comparable non anniversary edition.

Every where I have looked on DuPont or Autotrader they are going for around MSRP. I saw one at Manheim auction for 140K three weeks ago. I saw on low baller for 128.9K and it had like 5k miles on it
and it was gray. THere was a guy on the forum who had a GT3 blow up. WHile he waited he got a 50th anniverssary edition driver he put 10K miles on it and it sold in 2 days at MSRP black.
So all in all the seem to be verified but thats what I thought it slod for.

They are so rare that they are hard to find, thus the resale prices have been strong.
I really like them. I would consider one out of warranty to get it below 100k... But that is awhile away.

Basically if you want one today you will need to accept the low depreciation on them.

Your figures make sense but it also depends on what Porsche do with the next iteration of 991. If rumours are true and 991 is heading the turbo way for 2016 then the depreciation window could well be quite shortlived.

Here is a 25th cab that's been on Ebay for a while, just under $50k asking price:

Porsche of Nashville has a couple of used 50ths for $120k - no clue what MSRP was, but both are PDK.

For the record its still priced way over (36%) non 25th of same era (i.e. G50/3.2)
$32,000 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks

That's what I'd do. The CPO is nice but you can always add a warranty if you want additional coverage.

I don't know them, sorry. They're a little too far from people I know that I would trust for a PPI - maybe someone else can help with a suggestion.

That may be true, I don't know if Porsche offers extended warranties outside their CPO program, I'm leery of third party extended warranties, especially for a Porsche.

That being said, I consider the GTS to be my alternative choice to the 911_50. The houndstooth, gauges, wheels and geyser grey win over the alcantara or no deviated stitching with full leather option.

Of note, the best deal I've been offered for ordering a GTS has been $6.5k under MSRP, so the price is close.

If your heart says 911_50, then do it. But no need to be leery of all third-party warranties (like anything in life, some are good and some are not). I've had a few of them on earlier 911s and they came through for me just fine. If you do a bit of homework, you'll see that many pcar owners (and RL members) have had success with them. Good luck whatever you decide. To me, there is nothing more exciting than speccing a new car to your particular/exact desires.

If your heart is set on a 50th then that's what you should go for even if it means waiting for the right one. You don't make compromise decisions at this level.

I can assure you one thing, you will see a lot less 50th on roads & showrooms than GTS.

i just went through the same 911/50 research process and ended up buying the graphite gray one from Isringhausen in Illinois. A great deal can be (still?) had at Silverton in CO on a geyser gray. Graff in Utah also has a nicely optioned graphite at list price.

McKenna outside of LA also has a new graphite, but i don't recommend dealing with them. They tacked on a $5k premium at the last minute, just because they thought they could. Old school idiots.

Good luck with your search.
