My car came with the MF wheel, I bought used so didn't have a choice. I like the MF but the shift buttons are clunky so I went with the TechArt solution. $915 for the parts and $300 for installation and I have the best of both worlds. The SD wheel is better looking though.

I ended up with MF wheel, looked at it this way. What would I use more the steering wheel controls or paddles on a daily basis. I maybe manually shift car once or twice a day. where I use phone and audio controls all the time. And found that having to reach for volume and phone buttons on head unit to be a pain.

If you know your way aroud a toolbox, you might want to try modifying the MF wheel to work like the SD wheel. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...e-paddles.html I'm enjoying driving with up-shifts on the right rear button and down-shifts on the left (front buttons disabled). Not for the faint of heart but with the cost of a new wheel, I had nothing to lose and $1000. in my pocket.

I have the MF wheel and love the buttons. Quite intuitive really: push to go faster, pull to slow down. I have never come close to accidently hitting them.....

Paddles or no PDK for me. Multifunction wheel would have been a deal breaker. I dislike it. The action of the paddles makes the experience much more enjoyable.

I'll just go out on a limb but I'd guess if you asked all the guys with the multifunction wheel if they were 100% honest & could choose buttons or paddles right off the dealer floor they would go paddles every time. That's the reason why the buttons are going away. My buddy that loves the multi function wheel because of the heat and controls told me he only says he likes the buttons because he doesn't have a choice.

Who will be the first to figure out a way to hack a macan wheel on the current 991?

I use the buttons for shifting 99% of time on my MF wheel and love it. IMO paddles don't allow same degree of hand control on the steering wheel especially on twisty roads under spirited conditions. Plus hands stay warmer on cold days with top down and heated steering wheel.

I had a 981 Cayman S with paddles, and now my 991 C2S has the multifunction wheel. So I've had both. It is a major tradeoff. I prefer the paddles for shifting, but having the controls on the wheel are a major plus, and I find myself using the controls (volume, etc.) much more often than I ever used the paddles.

Don't know why Porsche can't design a multifunction wheel with paddles. Is this the Macan wheel others are referring to?

You know what, I was wondering the same thing. Would it fit? They must be at least similar?

Honestly, a MF wheel with paddles would just make my day/year.......

I agree with you buddy. I love the MF because I spend most of the time in my car on busy London roads, but if I could have both......

I like the GT3 wheel, it has 50% less throw than the std SD wheel.

Almost all of the inventory at my local dealer, especially for TT, have the MF wheel - I'm guessing it is so they can get the heated wheel (Chicago)... I really do not like the buttons, as I had them on a previous C4S, and used them at the Porsche school a few years back... If I was to buy used or off the lot, I would do it knowing I'd be installing Techart paddles on the MF...

Aside from the paddles, I also just don't think the MF is very good looking, especially on $130k+ cars....

That's my biggest gripe when I was originally looking at going CPO 991. The non Sport Design wheels look out of place on the car to me. I have the same problem with almost all GM cars the steering wheels look cheap. The Corvette interior was improved in every aspect except for the steering wheel which looks similar to $15K Chevy Sonic.

count me in with those who have the MF wheel and love it. If I wanted to shift manually all the time I'd have bought the MT.

I like the MF personally. I think it looks good and is functional too.
