Default Help Taking Out the Dash Clock

The buzzing and vibrating of the dash clock is finally getting to me. I took it to the dealer, and they blamed my radar detector mount. Guess what, it's the clock.

I was able to fix all of my other squeaks and creaks, but I'm wondering if I can fix the clock vibrating myself. I've searched around for a DIY, but I can't find anything. Does anyone know how to pull the clock out of the dash without messing it up? I'm not sure what I'm going to accomplish by pulling it out, but I may be able find the rattle.

Be curious to hear what you find. I sometimes hear a small rattling sound from that area, but I haven't been able to localize it to the clock or the nearby A/C vent.

My clock is out because of a dash rattle.
It was not the clock.
Clock is tight and well designed.

Right Upper Defroster Vent Cover is out too.
Be prepared to replace that part, if you remove it. Tabs break easily.

Dealer still unable to fix noise, after 3 visits.
Im taking more of dash apart to further explore.

It seems to be, forward part of dash has play and makes noise as it moves.
(That part between base of windshield and front of airbag cover.)
Can you reproduce a popping noise by pulling the front part of the dash towards you?

My clock makes the occasional buzzing as well. I can put my finger on the clock bezel and the noise stops. If it gets more intrusive I will remove it and find a cure.

Good luck with your fix. Let us know how it goes.

I have my clock out and there is not anything on it that can buzz.
The bezel does unscrew and you can try spinning it to tighten it up.
I suppose the glass lens could buzz, if the bezel was loose (but that is highly unlikely with Porsche quality control).

Just make sure you do not pull up on the eyelid.
If your eyelid has any play, then the tabs, from the vent cover (that houses the clock) got broken.
I broke mine somehow and it was $100 for a new vent cover.

My dash is extensively disassembled as my noise seems to be coming, from the upper part of the right dash where it is supported by an underlying frame.
Air Bag is coming out next to allow a better look.

I think my vibration is between the clock and the eyelid or the clock mounting itself. I agree it's not likely the actual bezel. It's just that my pushing there creates a force somewhere in the general vicinity. Are we super sensitive ****-retentive crazies or what? At least that's what my wife calls me. Truthfully, she calls me worse.
