Well I could have driven the whole rig in, but I don't think they'd appreciate a dually truck and a 20' trailer in front!

I have been to south beach many times. Since it's a vacation it's always a rental. They can park it anywhere. I would never take my 911 (or Ferrari or Bentley etc etc) and valet park at prime 1 or prime italian. An accident waiting to happen. Valets at the Aqualina can also park the rental.

Valet? Oh hell no. Especially not with a 7MT.

I don't do valet either, in any of my cars. I saw Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

I was a valet parker in high school. That's where I learned to drive a stick! Coincidentally, I have never valet parked any manual transmission car I have owned (which is all of them except one).

Draw your own conclusions.

Many of the higher class restaurants have covered underground parking areas to store their dining customer's cars. The smooth concrete will hardly wear your tires as they squeal around the corners.

I would never allow a valet to park my 911, no thank you. I'm pretty particular about my car. It doesn't take much to scratch up the smooth leather on the steering wheel (from a valet's ring) or put creases in the high bolstered sports seats from sitting on them while getting on or out.

There was only one restaurant in Vancouver that I'd use the valet parking with my Porsche's. Most of the valeted cars are in the Bentley range a $150k Porsche is peanuts there. Unfortunately the restaurant is now closed.

I have been reading the book "Heads in Beds" by Jacob Tomsky while I wait for my son to get off of work - he tells you exactly what happens to your car when it is valet parked

As long as you tip well (usually a $20 bill in most places) there's nothing wrong with asking if there's room up front, and even parking it yourself. That's what the spaces up front are for.... our cars.

this trend is worth keeping because of your avatar.

My neighbor's kid valet parked while he was in h.s. Now, he was a responsible kid and I'd trust him (if I had no other choice) to park my car, but some of the stories he told about "the other guys" made me cringe. Simple things, like curbing the wheels, parking on the street two blocks away and leaving the keys in the car, not knowing how to use a clutch, etc.
