Mine does not have the smoker's package. I plug the bat maintainer in the in the passenger footwell socket. It works very well.

+1 on the cigarette lighter - it will be fine. I run the cable in through the driver's window from the charger mounted conveniently on the wall beside the car.
The Porsche branded device is a C-Tek, btw.
Hope you didn't drive your Porsche with C-Tek dangling on the street!

Yup. This is how I do it, not through the fuse box, or the cig. lighter socket. Remove plastic panel under hood, red to red on battery, black to grounding point on the far right.

I had to put the cable quite high through the side glass of the door, as anywhere lower down the window would really squeeze the cable.

Bit of a fiddle, but it works ok.

So a question tough to answer. How long does it take to charge the battery? I have the BatteryTender brand. One lead goes directly to the batt on my 67 Shelby 350. Ran with it for a few hours came home, hooled it up, light goes out in about 6 hours. Trickle charge mode. Ran the GT3, about 4 hours, came home hooked it up THRU the passenger footwell. Still charging 10 hours later. Is it possible that going thru the entire electrical system vs direct to the batt that it takes longer to fully charge? Whats your experiences?

I also have battery tender. 8-12 hours sounds about right and I connect through the center console.

Not sure on an answer to this. Battery fully charged, hook up CTEK, leave it for 60 days, Full charge on return.

I never hooked it up directly to battery so don't know if it would be faster that way.
