Default Headlight aim

Technical question: Aiming Headlighs

991 4S coupe. Standard headlights.

The high beams are fine but lows are terrible. It's not the lumens, it's the aim. The way they are pointed I basically have a dark horizon after 100' but more like 50'. Hills - forget it - looking at asphalt.
Don't have this issue with any other car we own or have owned.

The lights could easily handle 2* of increased angle without any glare issues to oncoming or ahead traffic. Just looking for a few more feet of coverage.

How do I accomplish this?

Bret.

Bi Xenons? When you start the car, do they pivot down and then level?

Same issue. I have the bi xenons too. Very annoying but I just assumed it was how it was designed since it got CPO'd and looked at again during the 2 year service. Would love if they could safely and legally be raised a bit.

If the system is similar to the Audi and VW brands the bi xenons they can be recalibrated to level using the service computer and/or the leveling device that's attached to the suspension has come detached or defective.

My Bi Xenons cycle cross eyed at start up and then level out. I have not noticed low aim. The high beams light up the entire night sky like a searchlight pointed at the space shuttle on the launch pad. I have been told the action of and aim of the Bi Xenons are software, not a manual adjustment.

Yes. When going down gradual rolls and dips lighted vision is only 50-75'. And as you know the light/dark line is sharp, no light spilage above to help you see until you use the high beams.

All,
Thanks for your help folks, I will ask the dealer to adjust if possible.

Best, Bret.

Agreed, no issues with the highs.

Additionall this Porsche doesn't have fog lights. We have them on all of our other vehicles and find them to be really helpful.

As noted above, I will plead with the dealer to make an adjustment.

Best, Bret.

From the App "Porsche Good to Know"

Fog Lights

"The distribution characteristics of the driving light change when the rear fog light is switched on at vehicle speeds below approx. 43 mph (70 km/h). The light beam becomes wider and reduces glare."

I assume the below "43 mph" is because if you are going faster, the fog isn't that bad, but you still want overtaking vehicles to see you from behind.

I read that as well clagpap. I switched the rear fog on and off and could not see a difference in the fronts......? Can you tell?

I remember installing a set of 100 watt Hella fogs on a VW Scirocco and never had to use the high beams.

I haven't encountered fog at night as yet, so haven't tried that switch position. I wonder if it is noticeable against a white wall in a dark garage? Unless it's a LOT wider you might not notice on the road in clear weather.

Still dissappointed with the lights................

Have any of you folks re-calibrated using VCDS (vag-com) or Durametric? Is there a manual adjustment?

Taking it to the dealer for it's first oil change and inspection, will beg them to adjust the lights.

Thanks for any help on this.

GOT IT

Pretty simple really.

In the frunk, pull out left and right upper assessory packs. Pull out the upper most rubber plug (horizontal oblong) and insert a 5" 5mm hex key.
Turn.

That's all folks...................!

Best, Bret.

Genius! I will try this. Low beams are currently almost useless.
