6-9% seems to be the norm. What are the options & colour?.

"Also consider we are into the '15 MY. If you have patients you can order new and not pay for options you don't want".

I disagree. That's the norm for folks who share their discount on this forum. I suggest that the buyers who pay at or near sticker are embarrassed to admit it, so the results are skewed.

I am not too certain of that, do you think there'd be that many? I think when there is a new model launch, as in 2012 for 991, 2013 for 50th and 2014 for Targa etc there is no discount while orders are coming in but after a year or so 5% would be pretty norm and given over phone without much ask. Is that not how it rolls? Be great to know.

Fred,

FYI, do not use TrueCar. Their "good" rating is merely average.

6-9%? Would that apply on a 14 s turbo?

I bought my first pcar in March (mahogany boxster) and decided that instead if buying the toy I had my eyes on I would look at a new targa...liked it, but fell in love with a new white over black/red loaded up 911 S Turbo. Sticker is about 192k. Dealer offered 184k. Cash deal. Seems like only a negligible budge from MSRP. Opinion?

I can't wait to see how many posts you get on your "I went from buying a Boxster to buying a 911 Turbo S in six months" thread.

Do you have to be a doctor in order to place an order?

The new Turbo is still relatively new and as such can command nearly sticker. I know that my local dealer was selling them at full MSRP (or so they say). So that deal is around 4% off, which I think is pretty good. Not everyone gets 9%. In fact. most do not.

I think 6-9% is reasonable. If they disagree i would expand my search.
One thing I noticed is the car doesn't have a Sport Design steering wheel or MFSW. So you get what I consider the unpleasant buttons without the multi function aspect of that wheel. There are threads here that you can change the wheel to Sport Design for around $1K, but I would consider the combo on the car as it sits a (-). I'm sure others will disagree, but I drove both and really disliked the buttons. Again, just my opinion. Otherwise I think it's nicely optioned. If you don't mind trying to keep black clean :-0
FWIW, I'm getting 7.5% off on a highly optioned C4S order, but I pretraded a nearly perfect Boxster S with 5k miles in April that sold in less than 2 weeks (i thought they priced it incredibly reasonably) AND my car won't be built until at least September (PTS). So you probably should factor that into my equation.

I may have not been clear...I started looking for a *used* 987 Boxster then went for (and purchased) the new 981-based car. Upsell #1 complete. I have put 700 miles on it. I love it and plan to keep it. I went and drove the 911 Targa and just could not substantiate the price. However, the 911 turbo was a whole lot more go (and, sadly, significantly more $$) but I can justify that to myself...wife may be another story. I hear talk of a lot of people swapping 911 to the 981 platform cars. I can see why, but personally, I find that each has their significantly different strong points and I desire to have time in both.

As for my "deal" I was afraid that the 4% deal referenced would be about as good as it comes. Thanks for the information!
