Default Exhaust Tips

I have a base Carrera with the oval exhaust tips and not really happy with the look. Was looking to switch out just the tips and not the whole exhaust, but can't bring myself to pay 600+ dollars for some tips. Are there any cheaper alternatives out there that look good but don't break the bank?

Good idea, and don't sweat "used" since they get so dirty so quick anyway.
I bought the flared chrome tips and they actually seemed to stand out too much until they got dirty. If I did it again I'd go the black chrome finish.
The tips I really wanted were the PSE chrome tips which are like $900 - talk about a Porsche tax!

Are 997 S quad tips a direct bolt on to the stock 991 mufflers? The base 991 has a single outlet and the 991 S has two outlets coming off the muffler. Is this the case with the 997 S as well?

Here's an idea. Send them out to be ceramic coated in black.

then he'd have to black out the emblems , if he is already that sensitive to the looks of the rear of his car

Although this is surely considered blasphemy, I've often wondered if almost any exhaust tip found at your local auto parts store (or JC Whitney) might just bolt on if you want to change the cosmetic look?
The $400-600 cost for OEM and "Porshaaa" aftermarket tips is ridiculous for what you're getting.

charging 600-900 bucks for any car exhaust tips has ...ohhh....about 550 - 850 bucks of profit built into the price

Porsche 991 owners will know it is a base car from the black calipers anyway, so If I were you , I'd just
1) peel off all the original chromed rear emblems, replace with just a black " 911 " emblem ,available widely
2) paint / coat the oem oval tips matte black

I may be alone in liking the wide-mouth bass C2 exhaust tips. That said, I imagine something like this would work:

we always want what we don't have

in the Audi world , the higher performance models are given the large single tips !

when US cars had all red taillights, we swapped out for yellow blinkered euro ones ...until they went optional all red in euro guise which naturally meant we wanted clears

I think the reason that you need special tips is that the pipe is not centered in the opening so the tips have to be as well or they won't fit. Got Fabspeed tips from my dealer who gave me a small discount. They first shipped 911S tips and they didn't fit.
