PASM vs. PASM Sport

I miss SPASM on my first 991. My cab doesn't have it and it's definitely higher up and floppier, although it rides a lot better. I was surprised how much difference there is, SPASM is definitely rougher riding.

I think it has more to do with the condition of the roads we drive than the way we drive. Here in the La Jolla area I can drive my off road truck faster than my 911 on many surface streets. Good pavement is a different matter all together. I really will not intentionally hit those potholes at speed with the stiffer springs.

If I had a do over, Id get PASM (instead of SPASM) for the improved ride comfort and compliance over rough roads.
SPASM actually hops on rough roads while cornerimg.
I think PASM would provide more traction in those real world conditions.

I've had same experience of rear hopping on uneven roads during aggressive turns. I didn't know the cause but I have spasm. It occurs regardless of suspension setting. Dealer will let me test car without spasm.

Could be as simple as over inflated rear tire pressures. What ya running?

Thats (-1) from Comfort / Partial Load.
Rears get to 36-38 when warmed up.
Fronts warm up to 34-36.
I probably would lower the rears, but any more than (-1) sets off the TPMS warning.
PSS tires BTW.
I think they like lower pressures than PZero.
I wish I could drive a PASM car for comparison.
I was impressed with the ride comfort on the Boxter loaner I had.
I never would have believed 20" wheels could ride so smooth.

Ride/handling trade-offs are extremely subjective to each individual, as all these answers and comments show!
There is a clear disadvantage to SPASM being more likely to scrape, if that is a concern for you. If your goal is a car with a more sports/GT personality than a pure sports car one (which your original question suggests), then get PASM; if ultimate handling is your goal, then you need SPASM or an aftermarket supplier.
The best thing to do is ask your dealer if you can try cars with each set-up so you can decide for yourself.

Thanks, Vic_50th, and everyone else who has weighed in. This really does come down to personal preference and priority - these comments have greatly helped answer the question for me - my needs appear to be better served by PASM than SPASM. Now on to the rest of the configuration - I could spend all day figuring this out...
