Deciding between C4S or 911 50th

I went 911/50. I didn't want 4wd but I wanted the wide body. Also, it's not where you live but when you drive it. I live in Canada but I would NEVER drive any of my 911's in the snow. I worry about the other guy hitting me. If you plan on driving in snow then 4wd all the way. I have always wondered why Porsche's ultimate performance cars are 2wd. GT2/GT3/Carrera GT are always rwd(I know the 918 is 4wd). I have always viewed 2wd as the performance option and 4wd as the bad weather option. Just different flavors depending on your use. Lighter weight and a less complicated design seem like a good combination. Do you think Ferrari will make a 4wd 458 (or 458 replacement)? I have always wanted to talk to Porsche /Ferrari engineers about this to find out the real truth.
As an aside, you could have ordered a black 911/50 without the pepita interior and then only had the retro wheels. I ordered black leather because I didn't find the pepita nostalgic.

OK, thanks for the opinions thus far, I must admit I am leaning toward the C4S, for one I've never owned a porsche so for me the hounds tooth cloth seats on the 50th aren't a big hit especially because they are the 14 way sport seats not the 18 way adaptive seats like on the C4S which I find more comfortable. However, this and the loss of the sport design side mirrors thanks to the genius who built it opted for folding side mirrors, this being my only gripe on the 50th. In regard to the c4s, the dealer's GM who built the car dropped the ball IMO when he chose the color black with platinum satin wheels but left off the black pdls headlights. I haven't seen this car yet it is due to arrive at the dealer soon, I just hope the light grey headlights aren't an eyesore against the black & said wheels

Burning Brakes
Just saw my first 911_50 in person today. Drove by as I was walking to lunch. Damn, that thing is nice. I would totally go 911_50 over a C4S. It was a graphite grey - the wheels, silver window trim, and the rear engine cover trim really stood out.

As for the weight difference, I don't view it as a negative to have a little more weight in the front of the car. And if one is that concerned about weight, there are some other options to delete first.
458 doesn't come in AWD. 911 Turbo doesn't come in RWD. Regardless, neither of these comparisons should guide OP's decision.

I just finished photographing a 50th for a story that I'm writing, and you really have to look at all of the details to appreciate all of the little things that make it so special. For me, it's the seats, the instrument dials, the little exterior touches. I can do without all of the badging. We don't need no stinkin' badges!
Is it worth the money? Is a normal 911 worth the money? Not really. But that didn't stop any of us.

Don't buy a 911 for resale interest. In Toronto (ie cold) it's just as easy to sell 2wd as it is 4wd. Buy it for what you want for yourself. And the turbo does come in rwd....it's called a GT2.

Here's my two cents. The extra horsepower means very little on the street. I believe that Porsche views the 4wd for handling purposes and that is why it is standard on the Turbo and not for driving in snow as the summer tires are worthless in snow. I too love the 18 way seats and miss them in my car but I would not consider owning a solid black car unless you don't care about how it looks up close or you have lots of time for properly cleaning it. Look for a 2S with manual, 18 way seats and sport exhaust in a color you really want and see what kind of deal you can get.

50th edition is really only for those who appreciate the nostalgia of the pepita fabric, the geyser (modern reincarnation of beige 622 colour on classic 911), all the brightworks on engine cover, window frame, front fender intakes, the green dials .... If those words do not ring any bells with you then you should really aim for the Cwhatever as it will make more sense, the 50th is more about the passion than the head.

I had the same dilemma. I ultimately chose the C4S over the 50th. Here are a few reasons why:
1. 2015 MY not available on the 50th to my knowledge
2. Four Wheel Drive - I live in SC but this will be my first Porsche and I would like to be as "safe" as possible - I figure going from an all wheel drive Subaru Outback to a rear wheel drive Porsche may be a little bit too much
3. I don't need the 30 extra horses
4. I love the hounds tooth seats, BUT you can't get them ventilated, only heated
5. I like the rear light bar on the 4S
6. I like the 2 tone leather interior which is NOT an option on the 50th even if you don't opt for the Hounds tooths
7. You can get a rear view camera with park assist on the 2015 C4S
8. There are only 3 exterior color options on the 50th which didn't suit me (but I totally appreciate their nostalgia and charm)
9. I couldn't find sport chrono in the 50th edition build on the Porsche car configurator
