lots of posts about winter driving. I use my 991.2 C4S year around and it's awesome in snow. I bought a 1 year old set of OEM 20s with Pirelli Sottozeros on them on eBay for $2500. Keep an eye out in spring and you find great deals. Also recommend looking for slightly used rims versus new to save some money on winter wheels, either on Rennlist or eBay. Then buy tires from Tirerack or local choice. All in all run it through the winter, get sporadic washes of the underbody and all will be fine.

We have an incoming Targa 4S with the express intention of driving it all year round safe and except for the nasty days when it will stay in the garage. It has been great that the purchaser of all my Porsches of the last 20 years to have benefited from my phobia - and missed enjoyment - to driving these cars in the winter which is about to change. Not to say it can be your ONLY car...but certainly if you have another one to drive when conditions dictate - great...that is all you need.

I am posting a great shot from another Rennlister on the 991 Turbo board which is an inspiring one I think.

Daily drove a '98 C4S in the northeast for 18 months, including a brutal winter. Zero regrets... except for selling the car.

As others have noted, just put a good set of snow/winter tires on it and drive. My 991 C2 has really been just fine in snow - on full snowpack, even. I think having the 7MT helps a bit, as did turning off the traction control so I could spin a bit if needed. There's no faulting the handling ability of the car, though, even in snowy conditions.

I drive my 991 Turbo S cabriolet in winter conditions. I have Michelin Alpin winter tires mounted, and it does very well in snow.

Is tire flat spotting an issue for letting it sit for a few months?

If you're going to let sit for a few months over inflate the tires then return to normal when you're ready to run. It's what I was always taught and live by.
