12 - custom build too and was there when they rolled it off the truck. 19 when I took delivery after the PDI process.

Mine was bought from stock and it had 18kms i.e. 11mi.

Normally I would not remember this but I just got my car back from the first service and I checked the service book. It showed the date of the PDI and kilometers.

Custom ordered, 34 km or 21 miles, at delivery.

Mine must have been special as the factory testers took it for a couple extra laps!

My car had 6 at the dealer, 8 by the time I got it. Have you ever seen the transport ships they put these things on? Holy smokes, they're huge! If the car was on the lowest level, I could see them putting on a few extra mile just getting it there. And it depends on where on the docks it was stored, if Porsche did a test drive (yes, they do that with some random cars) or if the dealer took it out to check anything rather than just fill it up with gas. I wouldn't sweat it.

mine had 11.. At first I thought that a lot but seems to be pretty typical. But I suspect there are a few just in the process of loading it on and off the container ships and the holding areas. And I believe they do a couple mile road test at the end of production.

I suspect that those who have a bit more while still in plactic possibly had some retesting that went on..

This thread pops up on EVERY car forum in the world. Cars are not lifted from transport vehicle to transport vehicle by helicopter, so the idea of a zero mile car is not possible. Add in random testing at factory (which almost all brands including Porsche do), moving the car around storage facilities, lots, etc, and dealer PDI, I don't find some mileage to be much of an issue. I know every dealer in Houston has to drive their cars somewhere to get gas in them for instance.
My car was a lot car with 70 miles on it including my test drive (and presumably some others.) 31K miles later, it's still purring like a kitten and I have lost no sleep about what may have happened in those 70 miles.

I didn't really ponder it until I read this thread so made a point of checking mine when I picked it up today... 10 miles. We are 2 miles from the petrol (gas!) station so That seems reasonable to me along with all the other small manoeuvres and tests.

My car arrived at my Bay Area dealer on 4/30, via the San Diego port (port arrival 4/17) with 7 miles on it, and had 12 miles on it after dealer prep and road test. I was concerned about the slightly longer time spent at port, possibly being evidence of port repairs, but at only 7 miles upon dealer arrival, I took that as a surrogate marker that nothing was needed at port. Not to make those of you with more miles paranoid, but I figure it would have logged more miles had repair work been needed.

I understand that the car is not air lifted everywhere, but if all Porsche 911 cars are built in the same factory, transported to the same port, then loaded on a truck after arriving at the port, and finally brought to dealer I would think they'd have a similar number of miles.

If the car had been on the lot for a while with test drives I know it will have some miles. Since mine was custom ordered and was on the lot less than a week before being loaded on another truck for delivery to me I'm confused why it has 20+ miles whereas must people are closer to 10.

So the car has 20 or 30 miles. What difference can it possibly make?

The only difference it makes is I'd like to understand where the miles cam from. Did someone at the Porsche factory decide to take it for a joyride on the autobahn? Did someone at the dealership use it to run errands? Obviously I can't do anything about it now and I'm still very excited about the new car. I'm just curious where the extra miles came from.
