After seeing this, I had to go back and look where I saw the information and indeed there are two different results depending on where you look.

This one shows it is A40 approved however this is on their "SAP" (South Asia Pacific) website:
Mobil 1™ FS X2 5W 50 | Full Synthetic Motor Oil | Mobil in SAP (South Asia Pacific)

This one shows it as "meets or exceeds requirements" but not in the "approved" list:
Mobil 1™ FS X2 5W-50

It is fair to say that this conflicting information can lead to confusion. I'm looking forward to hearing back from them with a response to my inquiry.

Yes, those are the old bottles when they had Approved A40

The difference is the bottle, even on their Instagram they mentioned about the new bottle but nothing about changing the formula.

also, at this point there is not different between Mobil 1 5w50 and redline 5w50

Redline

Interesting to see what Mobil comes back with regarding the 5W-50. I may switch to Motul if the Mobil isn’t A40 approved anymore.

Thank you all for updating this thread

I almost purchased oil yesterday from Napa and decided to wait. (did not enter store or check bottles)

If M1 5W-50 is no longer A40, I will just go back to Motul Gen 2 5w-40

I wrote to Mobil on this, and they just got back to me. They said the 5W-50 is still approved but they have a typo on their US webpage and it shows under Meets and Exceeds versus the Approved section above with the Mercedes approvals. So, it is approved, and they will fix the web page error.

The 10 bottles I picked up from Napa (they shipped it) indicate that it's A40 approved on the back of the bottle.

Local dealer ran my vin yesterday on my ‘19 T and said it came up as C40 0w-40 approved and not A40. Said use A40 5w-50 at my own risk. I’m confused!

If it was my car, I would run C40, per recommendation.

My latest report - will run another one this month. Have been changing oil roughly after two track days and a bit of road mileage.

My last one is attached. I switched to 5W-50 M1 with this drain (I'm in FL) and it will be interesting to see how things change next Feb.
Back with a question or two. Since this service in February (about six months), I've done 2,200 miles on this oil in mixed driving (highway/short trips). I am still at one bar below max, and have not had to add any oil.

Do ya'll see any reason to change now (six month interval), or just wait until next February as per usual, which will be 12 months and (perhaps) 5,000 miles on the car? I have another Mahle filter and plenty more M1 5W-50 bought at NAPA on sale.

I appreciate this is not unlike a religious debate (picking a drain interval I mean) and after 40 years in cars I should be able to decide myself, but I am oddly in two minds about this. The data-driven engineer in me says "drive the car, you'll be fine with an annual OCI" but the other, OCD, lizard-brain part of me says OMG CHANGE THE OIL EARLY!

Thoughts?

My motto….”If in doubt, change it out.” Oil degrades by time as well as mileage and oil changes on these are simple. If you have a 991.2, turbos add extra demands on oil from turbo heat and higher pressures.
