Default XM Radio - Snap, Crackle, Pop

I'm having an intermittent problem with my radio. Sometimes when I start my car I do not get sound from XM Radio. All I hear is crackling. I know the XM Radio is getting a signal because the radio channel logo, artist name, and song title appear on the PCM display. If I change stations this information changes but still just crackling noise. AM/FM/CD work fine. So far every time this problem has occurred I switch to a different audio source for a few minutes and then when I go back to XM it's fine. Once the XM starts working its been fine until I shut off the car.

I've sent the "refresh" signal from XM to the car a few times but the intermittent problem keeps coming back.

Any ideas (other than shut off the radio and listen to the exhaust!)? I hate intermittent problems, if I go to the dealer I'm sure the radio will be fine when they look at it

Jeff I didn't have that problem when I had XM. I have let my XM expire and keep forgetting to reactivate it (looking for a package deal since I already have it in 2 other cars) Keep your fingers crossed that it happens when you go to the dealer.

2013 C2S....Had good reception for about 6 months & then became intermittent to non - existent . Have two other vehicles w/XM & no reception problems. Had XM do the signal refresh... no change.

Dealer replaced the "pod" antenna (came in primer & they had it painted) &
now works good again.

Known problem - warranty.

I had problems getting reception and the dealer replaced the antenna, which really helped. I have heard others with similar reception problems that were fixed (or made much better) with a new antenna. Not sure if the same thing would apply to what sounds like static versus poor reception.

Thanks, I'll contact the dealer about replacing the antenna.

Did u get any resolution on this? My cayenne is exhibiting the same behavior. The satellite has a signal, and once the car is warmed up, the satellite works???

If you have them replace it make sure they put the new one on the correct way and not upside down, which happened to somewhere here. It will still work either way but it may not seat properly.
