Default 991 Cab. Windscreen Campaign?

I took my car in for an oil change and they also replaced the windscreen. They said there was an open campaign on it, but not a recall. Of course it was covered, but was about an $1800 replacement. Anyone heard of this?

On an unrelated note, I asked if I could see the tech access the oil filter, as I plan to do my own oil changes in the future. He was very nice and explained what he was doing. I guess you do have to be careful to not break any of the rubber grommets, but it does seem pretty simple.

They didn't really say. The service advisor just said that it popped up on my car, and since they had the part in stock, they did it. He *seemed* somewhat surprised to see it pop up.

In early 991 production the screen would have too much resistance and not closed when opened so you couldnt close the top... It was 12 cabs and a few 13s if i recall.

there was a recall on the earler model. yours must be something new.

the Oil change is more involved on a 991, especially the cab since you have to go under the deck lid.
the fan housing removal is easy and yes you have to be careful. I clean and condition the rubber so it easier next time. Just be sure to place a rag under the filter housing to catch any oil.

The air filters on the other hand...

Thanks. Mine is a 2012. I bought it new in October 2013, so decided to do an oil change now.

Count your rags when finished. Make sure you can account for all of them.

At first I was confused that this was talking about the windshield. Now I understand that it is the screen that pops up to block airflow when the cab top is down.... Whew.

Kosmo, are you saying I can remove the fans/housing and actually see the top of my engine?
