Default PDK Failure - update

Just heard from the dealer on my 2014 Carrera S (with 1100 miles on it) PDK failure. It seems the control unit malfunctioned and that stopped the flow of hydraulics to the transmission, which consequently shut down the transmission. They are replacing the control unit. It's readily available (they will receive it within a day) which means this is not an uncommon issue.

Good news. You should post your update in your orginal thread too:

Good news. Much better to have an electronic issue than a major mechanical failure.

Good to know that you will have your car back sooner rather than later.

That's great. You'll be back on the road in no time.

You had your control unit replaced today for the same issue (PDK)? Did they tell you why it happened? How many miles on your C4S.
Mine is a C2S with X51 powerkit ...I'm wondering if this has something to do with it.

I wonder what the retail (out of warranty) cost for that would have been? Would be nice to know.

Is this a "change-over" valve similar to the following? Maybe you can check your service write-up from dealer tech?

Here's a picture of the part in question (the part number is 7PP906283B, now replaced by 7PP906283C):

There has been a lot of discussion of this particular valve failing on 991s, frequently being related to cabin heating, PSE valves, etc. I had the control changed recently on my 2014 C4S when I had no hot air coming into the cabin.

Failure in this case not allowing flow of hydraulics is much worse than no heat....
