Default 2012 911S

Looking at buying a low mileage 2012 911S with a manual 6spd.
Only thing missing from the option list is the SportChrono. Would this option really be missed with the manual? I know it's pretty necessary with the PDK. This will be my first Porsche and will for playing on the weekends mostly. Thanks

You're in the air-cooled section. Try one of these: https://rennlist.com/forums/water-co...sion-areas-49/

What is a sportchrono? please don't tell me we are fretting over the clock. I deleted my clock in favor of a massive alternator warning light.

sport chrono sucks unless you have the turbo model for the overboost feature.

Other then that it is just a dash wart on all other models..

Beatnik the Sport Chrono option is a nice feature to have. When turned on it improves throttle response and increases the threshold before stability management intervenes. It can be added after the fact by either a third party flash (however Sport Chrono is always on) or Suncoast sells the software flash along with the dash button so it can be turned on or off. More info can be found at http://www.suncoastparts.com/product//9X7SM.html

Sport Chrono is a total waste of money.

The sport chromo is a must have in PDK. You get sport and sport plus mode and i believe the package also includes the electronic engine mounts. I would not have bought a PDK without SC, but I'm not sure of the benefits in a MT but you do get the auto throttle blip on downshifts. I get a lot of fun driving with different combinations, its almost like having 2 different cars, very nice GT type car in regular mode, spotter in sports mode, and crazy in sport plus.

good luck with your decision

cheers

On my 7MT the sport chrono adds the Sport Plus button which opens the exhaust, stiffens the dampers and reduces body roll. Throttle response is immediate. If you're buying a car without all these options (PSE, PASM, PDCC) then the value is debatable, but for me it's like have 2 cars in one as limey940 said...although admittedly I rarely use it. I think that Sport Plus would make a nice track setting.
