Another battery related observation. Last night, I came home with shopping from Macy's, groceries, and a tasty meal from the local taqueria. I was more interested in eating than unloading so I kind of forgot all of the groceries in the frunk.
It was in the high 30's here last night, and my intention was to leave the 24 pack of bottled water on my back porch but I kind of forgot. This morning when I opened my back door, I noticed to my dismay that the frunk was still open, water still in it, and the car was dark.
I was sweating bullets thinking my battery was surely dead, but when I opened the driver's door all the normal lights came on and it started like a champ. So how long does the frunk light stay on until it shuts itself off to protect the battery?

A couple hours, I think.

Seems as if my case is one of the most extreme battery situations so far - 30 days, undriven, no charger. I'll post what happens this weekend when I get home.

I know two weeks isn't an issue, with an otherwise healthy battery. Have done that a few times with no issues. But not 30 days. Nervous this time.

Where would you suggest plugging it in? I think the other outlets are in the center arm rest cubby and the glove box.

Don't know on a 991 because I don't have one. On the 997 the recommended socket is the cigarette lighter socket because it stays "on" after the ignition is off. The other ones don't. I guess you have to get the smokers package on 991 to get the cigarette lighter.

Read your manual. It probably tells you which one (s) stays on.

After 2.5 hours the green light "full batter indicator" replaced the orange "half full" one. So the foot well socket works in the 991.

Did you lock your doors after plugging in?

I have found the center console outlet times out after 20-30 minutes when the doors are unlocked. The Porsche branded ctek flickers orange/green.

When the doors are locked, the center console stay "hot". I have mine hooked up to a timer for some outdoor lights and it comes on at night only and sends a charge and the car accepts it at night, but only when the car is locked.

My 981 center stayed "hot" doors locked or unlocked. I thought I had a problem with my charger when I changed cars.

No, didn't lock the doors. So I guess the one in the footwell in 991s stay hot. According to the instructions it is ok to leave on all the time.

I will try the footwell outlet, thanks for your info.

It just so happens its the closest outlet to the car, and its switched by a timer.

FYI-Over a roughly 12 hour sit, it takes the ctek about 6 mintues to go from orange to green. I was walking by it the other night and noticed, so I looked at the timer.

Why the timer step? Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense that the footwell socket would stay hot in the 991 since I assume no cigarette lighter socket if you don't get the smokers package, and Porsche would want at least one to stay hot.

Unintentional, it just so happens the outlet closest to the car is on a timer.

My next garage will be drywall finished with GFCI's every 6 feet.

Thank you all. I just ordered the CTEK 3300 and cigarette adaptor and will plug it into the passenger wheel well socket. I'm hopeful that I won't need an extension cord to reach from the outlet to the socket.

If anything like my Porsche one, the cord is over 20 feet long.

I hope so. Supposedly Porsche rebrands this one, so maybe it's the same unless they spec longer cords.
