Radio reception
Before I go bug the dealer ..... The FM tuner/radio reception (not satellite) is particularly bad on my car ..... Is this normal ?
I am comparing this to my recently departed E63 which was exceptionally good for FM reception.

I see that this thread has not been posted to in quite some time, so I thought I'd try to resurrect the discussion.
I'm on my second Porsche, a 2014 991, my first was a 2011 Cayman. While I love all things Porsche, the radios in these cars certainly is not one of them. The FM radio reception in both cars was/is extremely poor. I live in the NY/NJ area where there are plenty of strong signals that my other cars (BMW, GMC) radios deal with perfectly fine. Both Porsche’s however receive FM very spotty and/or weak. Signals fade in and out and I can’t pick up stations that my other cars can.
I know we don’t buy these cars for the radios, but really for the price, why should the radio be so anemic? Do they set these things up in Germany and they aren’t “tuned” for the US market? Is it due to the fact that the antennae is in the windshield? And most importantly, is there a fix to the stock radio to at least get decent FM reception?
I’m not an entirely digital music source guy, and I wish I could get some decent reception.

I am an NPR addict. On all my Porsches I could satisfy my addictions. On the other hand my GPSs have Germanic arrogance. I bought my new 2013 Base 991 Coupe and proceeded from Tallahassee to Orlando. It got me there OK. When we had to go to dinner in Orlando, the GPS took us 25 miles in the wrong direction. My 2015 GTS has not duplicated the GPS problems. I am satisfied with my basic radio and GPS in my 2015 GTS Carrera. No problems! I listen to the PSE. It is comforting. Take it to the dealer. They fix things well!

Three Wheelin'
265 million Americans 6+ listen to the radio each week;
66 million Millennials use radio each week;
Audio consumers are listening for more than 12 hours each week; and
The majority of radio usage comes from employed listeners; nearly three-quarters of Generation X listeners work full-time.

It's not the radio; it's the antenna.
Or, more specifically, the LACK of a rod antenna. Your Porsche radio antenna is embedded in your windshield, which makes it almost invisible (a good thing), but does not optimize reception (a bad thing).
Poor radio reception is a drag, if that's something that is important to you.

Years ago I had an Audi which the prior owner had the windows tinted. Radio reception was horrible. Apparently some tints have metallic properties. I removed the tint and the radio reception was great.
