Default Getting 997 4 GTS. Only test drove the 991s.

Hello,

I am getting a 997 4 GTS PDK. However, I only test drove a 991S PDK and wanted to ask a few questions to people who had a chance to drive both. Unfortunately, I might not be able to try out a 997 4 GTS in person. Both cars have PDK and sport exhaust. I did tons of reading on the differences but had two focused questions.

1) The 991s had a lovely sound with PSE On, with blips on down shifts, loud pops gurgles etc. Does the 997 GTS (2012 year) have the same downshift plibs, these loud gurgles / pops? What about overall interior and exterior volume levels?

2) The GTS is a AWD, the 991s wasn't. Any noticeable differences in drive? Note I am your average spirited drives and not planning to track this car.

3) Any other bewares or known issues with the 997 4 GTS? The car im looking at is used with about 10k miles.

Thanks a ton!

The PSE will sound very simillar. All PSE (regardless of model or year) make that sound you're describing.

it won't sound like the 991, but 997's are great cars, especially a GTS. Good luck!

I had a 997 GTS (2wd) and now drive a 991S. Both have PSE. One big difference between the two, at least to the driver, is the sound inside the car. Much of what you're hearing in the 991S is the "sound symposer" which pumps intake noise into the interior. The 997.2 does not have that. The first time I drove a 991 with the symposer I was surprised by the difference in sound. You will not be getting that in the GTS.

Very true. I have a GTS 2wd and drove my friend's 991 few times. The sport's exhaust sound in 991 is much louder from the cabin compare to GTS.
