My dealer is awesome, has been since the first day I went in there, everyone from lot people, service, sales, to management.

Since we're telling stories...I had tried to buy a car years ago from another dealer in town. Something was just a bit off. Told me the (used) car was pristine. While test driving, I found a scrap of paper in the car with the previous owner's name and phone. Saved it for future reference. Then, the salesman let me drive his demo car. Snooped around and found paperwork in the glove box with a different name but same phone as the salesman's. Saved for future reference.

Next day, called former owner...told me the car was awesome and really liked the safety features. Bragged about how when he hit that tree, airbags saved him from injury. "That's wonderful!" I told him and thanked him for his time. Next call was the salesman's number, but I asked for the name I found on the paperwork in his car. When he answered, I could tell by the accent it was the salesman. I asked to speak with the name I had found, and he said "speaking..." Really - these guys use an alias to sell cars? Told him I was not interested in the car because it had been crashed. His response was "where did you get my name?!"

I guess it was all really an IQ test, and he failed.

I have had mostly positive results with service and sales personnel. However, one service rep in particular was horrendous... And it was at Momentum in Houston.

It's a long story, but the bottom line was that the service rep called the police and reported the loaner stollen!! When I finally talked to him and asked WTF, he said he had called both my wife and I all day and we never returned any of his calls, and thats why he called the police.

I told him that I flew all day and my wife was in clinic all day and neither of us had access to our phones. His exact response was "You're lying!!!". He kept saying that he didn't believe me that I didn't have my phone with me. He was the biggest a** of all time. It was the worst experience I had ever had with a service dept.

I wrote a letter to Porsche N America and the VP wrote me back and apologized. Shortly there after I traded in the Boxster S and bought the M3. It's taken a long time to finally give Porsche a try again. Hopefully I'll have a better experience this time around.

BTW, my current salesman is freaking awesome!! I think he's more excited about delivering the car to me than I am about receiving it!

I just bought from the local dealership, and was generally happy with the sales guy I worked with. If he had been pushy, rude, or failed to follow up, I would have bought a Z51.

from my experience with two different dealers (dealing with Sales Managers/GM both times), one dealer was/is great to respond and work on a deal, but he didn't have a car I really wanted.

The other dealer got a late allocation I could modify and they've been so-so to deal with. They've got the car I want, but they have been really slow at times to respond and they went back on an original price we agreed on. My car could be at port in the US or still in Germany, I have no idea and after asking 3 times over the last week, I still don't have an answer. Can't say it's horrible, yet, but it's a less than stellar experience to say the least. If there's any issues when the car comes in, I'm going to walk and look elsewhere.

I wish I had the $ for a new F-car, I drove some pre-owned F-cars while deciding what to buy, but I decided I could not buy used without a warranty, especially north of $150k. The F-car dealership was so chill and lacked all the usual car salesman crap. The salesman told me he never worked in the car business and was actually hired by the GM from a super high end clothing store. I was hoping Porsche dealers would be similar, but they seem no different than the usual BMW and MB jokers I've been dealing with my whole life. Arrggh, it's so exhausting!

Ok. Update time. I did get a reply 2-3 days later saying there was no allocation after all. A little annoying after talking yourself into pulling the trigger on something this expensive. I did cancel an order once with him before it had been placed so maybe we are even. All for the best...

Maybe, but I did order and pay cash for one just prior to that. I would say its part of being in the sales business.....

Interesting. It was North that lost the sale over a really ridiculous offer on the like new car I was trading it, like $12K difference. I did buy at Momentum, my second Porsche from them. I've gotten deals to my liking both times although I did have to kind of insist, but they've always treated me nicely.
The Momentum group (Sonic dealers) are a mixed bag to me. I've bought two MINI's from them, three Audi's, and two Porsches, but their BMW store was horrible to me and I bought elsewhere twice. The salesman (usually your first point of contact) can sometimes color the whole experience.

I am not even going to name the dealer because I was so utterly embarrassed to be part of the situation. The sales guy (their "top guy" btw) in the first few seconds of meeting me holds his cell phone up to his ear (which he never ignores) and has me listening to his buddy (or some random guy) taking about some girl. Now, I am an easy going guy so I laugh it off but I wonder what in the world he could be thinking. Then, after "thinking" he swiped my trade (I happen to know the wholesaler personally) he tries to get me to pay extra for some "custom paint" on the car (very small stuff-diffuser,mirrors, etc.) by telling me he is "giving" me the tint. This was all after the deal was negotiated. After hearing about how I "should be ok with this because I am a businessman" (apparently he figured that out by my shorts and t-shirt?) I offered to pay $1000 because I truly saw that value. He throws up his hands and starts whining loudly to his GSM that he doesn't want any part of the deal and they should give the file to someone else because somehow the owner of the dealership might think he is in some sort of collusion with me. Bear in mind that I am smirking and truly getting a laugh inside at this side show. Had it not been so off the charts silly I would have left but I found it truly entertaining, and frankly, I had nothing better to do. Finally, he concedes that he will do the paperwork because it is at least a "unit". At that point I smile and say "that's the spirit". Hahahaha. Being a long time BMW guy having bought 2 M cars in the last 6 months and 3 other BMWs in 18 months with STELLAR experiences, I cannot tell you how shocked I was at how I was treated. Not to mention that earlier in the day I asked the "old" F&I guy about financing and he told me that he has done this for so long and knew that Porsche would come back with probably a 12% rate or best case 8+%-REALLY? To test this I went to another dealer and had ta deal submitted an by the grace of the finance gods I was instantly approved at 6%.

Long story short, I bought the car, hated the deal with the finance so I paid it off with the second payment.

To add to the comedy, the sales guy must have called me "bro" a minimum of 20 times (no exaggeration) and several times I was nicknamed "money" just for good measure. As in "Yo bro check this out"..."Money, money..this is the way to go."

REALLY Porsche?

Momentum's sales dept seems markedly better than West but because of my experience with their service dept I'll never go back. I buy a new car on average every year and I've never seen worse salesmen at any type of dealer any where in the country than those at West. Their ignorance is astounding but it's their willingness to lie, cheat and steal that really sets them apart. I ordered my 991S from out of state.

I own two houses and they wouldn't finance me, reason? You had a recent more Terbium, yeah into another house I've owned 34 years, did you guys have a point? No bother my credit union was thrilled to fork over the coin and it was nearly the same rate. As for dealers, I gave my local half a dozen opportunities to find me a Spyder, they didn't even try. They had a poorly cared for 911 cabrio that I think they figured I would take eventually if they claimed there were no Spyders so I went to another dealer out of state and they were awesome. I know there are some in my town and on this site that love the local dealer but as a man whose dad was an automobile dealer for more than forty years I can assure you they suck harder than a dyson product.
