Default Pictures of skene front license bracket

Have read several posts about the options for a front license plate bracket and decided the Skene is probably best for me. However as I reviewed their web page and the diagram and then looked at the mounting location (991) it appears their is very little room under the front lip to mount the bracket. It also "feels" like I would be drilling into just hard plastic.

Realize I need the extra short bracket but just wonder what your experience is with those who have the skene in use. Also is it adjustable so as to move the plate (once mounted) as high against the bottom of the bumper as you want and are you happy with the connection between the mount and the lower lip of the front bumper.

Also a close up picture would be much appeicated.

Long time Porsche owner who has been without for 6 years. Love the changes from my last Pcar a polar silver 993. Thanks for any help.

You do need an extra short on a 991. It is adjustable up & down. The self tapping screws hold very well. The holes you pre drill UNDER the lip would barely be noticeable should you decide to remove it.
I have used same one on my M3 for over a year with no problems. Best solution I have seen if you want a no hole front fascia. Be careful on centering is the only advice I can give.

The Skene lets you place the plate into a perfect spot.

I have the Skene on a Sport Design front bumper and cars is X51 so I can't block the middle radiator/cooler. Had to mount it a little higher. See picture in Avatar.

I, too, have the Skene bracket on my sport design front bumper. Mine was the first they did on a 991 w/ SD and I could have gone with one size longer, but I like it as is. It's a great bracket and the adjustability is excellent.

Brianja, WOW!! Thank you. That's exactly what I was hoping for. Great pictures and great look at the bracket and how it looks from the front view. Beautiful car. Coincidently my 991 is also white. Dont have the sport design bumper but that gives me a great look at how I need to mount it. Thanks again.

Above it mentions using the "short" setup. For Sport Design I used the medium to give more height and less blocking of the centre radiator/cooler.

I have the "short" on mine (with SD). If I were doing it again I would order "medium".

@brianja it looks clean How do you deal with NYC bumper car style parallel parking ax holes? Bumper badger?

Lol... never!

I'm pretty careful, but I don't let it keep me from using the car. She's my DD here in the city and I've put nearly 10k miles on her in just over a year.

I manage to minimize my bumper's risk in a number of ways:

1) Have a deeded, self-park, indoor spot at my apartment.

2) Use garages / lots in the city that I trust or that know me ONLY. They will take care of me.

3) When I do street park, I pick end spots or spots large enough to leave me plenty of room on either side. I routinely pass up open parking spots that the 991 can fit into, because they would leave me too close to the cars in front of or behind me.

4) Be conscious of how much space the cars in front of or behind you have too. I can park closer to a parked car that is on the end of a block, for example, because they will be able to get out easily.

5) When I'm really concerned... take my wife's car! (don't let her know that)

So far this has worked for me on the 991. I did get one nick in the rear bumper of my previous car, but it wasn't too bad.
