My current ride is an 05 C2S 6 spd and am contemplating making the switch today eg ordering, a 2014 7 spd S with the X51. The problem is, I love my car but now after owning it for 9 years and driving a 991 base model with the 7spd I think I'm ready to change. For those who have owned both, after two yrs of the new model being out and making car/purchase payments the size of house payments, are you still 100% sold? If someone were to offer you $90K plus my car with low original miles would you consider switching back? Anything you miss about the old car?
Looking forward to some sage advice...

Have had both 996 and 997 Cabs. My 991 C4s Cab blows both away. More power, more comfort, better ride, quiter, noisier PSM, and the list goes on. Toyed with power kit and after driving both $ not justified as very little difference if any in performance as a DD

I had 06 C2 and 10 C2S previously. Now I have 991 C2s Cab PDK SC and it is a much superior car. You will not regret upgrading.

I was unhappy with my old 2007 C4S. I felt it was underpowered and had a major repair on the rear end (covered on warranty). Traded it for an M3 but the clutch has a valve that delays grabbing point. M3's power was better than the 2007 C4S and handling on par.
Got fed up with the M3's clutch system and traded it for a 2014 C2S 991 and it is perfect. Powered like an M3 with a V8 but better mileage and much better than my 2007 997 C4S. PDCC and the SPASM and wonderful too.
FYI, the lead mechanic at the dealership agreed and said the 991 is much better overall than the 997. It is a completely different beast.

Currently have a 997 but want to get intto a 991 in forseeable future. Curious as to why people are saying it is much faster; on paper it doesnt bear out? 997s 385hp vs 991S 400hp - don't beleive that the torque is that much diff so what is it that makes such a distinction re being "much faster? Have not yet test drove the 991 so I'm really curious - is it really worth the opportunity cost to cash in a well invested $100K, is really that much better?? Based on what I'm reading I really want a 991 now...

I traded in my 997.2S. Waiting for my 991/50 to arrive. You are correct. It's not much faster and the stats are there to prove it. Don't believe anyone who tells tou it is much faster. It is a little faster in a straight line, a little more so on the track. If you are going from a 997.1 then there is a bigger difference. However,it is roomier and smoother. I didn't teally notice much of a difference in the steering. Most drivers on these forums are very average drivers who won't really notice any difference in daily driving. Pit Sabine Schmitz in both on the ring and then listen to what SHE says. The 997.2 is still a wonderful car. I'm 6'3" and 275lbs (ie football linebacker size) the the extra room is really wonderful.

If you have taken both cars on a track for a DE day, or an AX event, then you can really feel why the 991 is "much faster". I guess it can always be debated what "much" is, but when tenths of a second are yearned for on a track, I would say much faster is fair.
I also agree that most average drivers on the street will not notice much of a difference, the 997 is very fast as well.

For reference,
Lap times at Nordschleife, Germany http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/nordschleife.html
997.2 @ 7:50.0
991 @ 7:37.9

Exactly my point. 12 seconds on the Nordschliefe by a professional driver wont really be noticed on a daily driver. Most of that 12 seconds is the chassis. The 991 is faster but 10:10th's on a racetrack is not the true comparison. The 997.2 S is extremely fast in it's own right. I look forward to my new car with 430 HP but I doubt the performance edge on the street will be that much better. One other thing. The Nordschliefe is very long track. On most tracks, like Laguna Seca I would bet the difference is 1~2 secs.
