44 Anesthesiologist/Pain management specialist. Bought my first Pcar at 39. Have gone almost through the whole model range. Love my GT3. The best car I've ever had. Really want an RS but not interested in playing the over MSRP game. I wish they made less cayennes, macans and panameras and more GT cars so wouldn't have to deal with this non sense.

If they made/sold fewer Cayennes, Macans and Panameras, they'd have less money to spend on R&D of the superb sports cars that so many of us love to drive.

I wonder where they found the money to do anything before the Cayenne was introduced in 2004??

Porsche has been around for more than 50 years.

This "we owe it all to the Cayenne's" is so ridiculous. In 15-20 yrs Porsche will be another BMW and Benz.

They introduced the 986 Boxster! That helped to save Porsche after the 996 debacle.

Are you implying that the tens/hundreds of millions of dollars that the sales of the profitable models generate don't impact the amount of money available for development of the 911? When you mention the 50+ years of Porsche, are you dismissing the early 90's when Porsche was on the verge of bankruptcy?

45, hospitalist--specifically, nocturnist. I'd love to retire early (I don't know how much more I can work graveyard shift) and am looking for my 'out'...

I love the sub threads.
Porsche has had a stratified model range for decades. 912 anyone? 914? 924? 944? Some were big sellers!

I don't care if they make bicycles or battleships as long as they still make the cool cars.

54, Own a software development/information assurance/gov't contracting firm. Trade the market quite a bit as well. Bought a used 1987 928 right outta school and have never been without one or more front engined P-cars ever since. This is my first rear engine. 2013--last of the naturally aspirated 911's. Now I see what all the fuss is about...

Thank you. I truly do appreciate you guys...
About 6 years ago my 3 partners and I decided to get out of the hospital and turn things over to the hospitalists... 1st best decision I ever made.
Before: Rounding at 1st hospital from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM, seeing patients all day at the clinic then rounding at 2nd hospital from 6 PM to 8 PM. If I was lucky would stumble into the house around 9 PM. Cover hospital every 4th weekend and usually be there the entire time. Did that for 20 years. After: Seeing patients in the office from 8:30 to 5. No weekends.
This freed me up physically (and more importantly creatively) to branch into other things. Went together with several other docs and opened an imaging center, now have 2 MRI units and a CT. Opened a free-standing Urgent Care clinic. Learned the business now have opened up 2 more locations, getting ready to open a 4th. More on the horizon.
2nd best decision I ever made--About 16 months ago I changed over to a Concierge practice--went from 3000+ patients and 35-40 people a day to 300 patients and 8-12 a day.
I guess I found my 'out'... good luck on your search.

I appreciate the thanks--your schedule before the hospitalist movement was exactly what I had to go through (I did traditional primary care for ~7 yrs before becoming a hospitalist). I just couldn't imagine that was sustainable.

The only 'saving grace' of my job is the fact that I work 7 days on and get 13 days off... plenty of time to spend with my family (they'll say too much time)!

Would love to hear more about your business model at some point (my wheels are constantly spinning...)...
