Default 2013 Porsche 991 with IPD Plenum from GMP Performance

The new 991 Carrera is arguably one of the sexiest Porsches to come out of Stuttgart in recent years. But there's always a way to improve even the sleekest, most powerful vehicle. This 991 came in to us for just that little bit extra to truly maximize his Porsche's engine, courtesy of a IPD Plenum.

Parts Installed:
Porsche 991 S Carrera Plenum

The Build

Getting to the stock plenum

The IPD Plenum

IPD versus OEM

Back together

IPD loves finding ways for Porsche owners looking to elevate the already visceral Porsche driving experience to the next level. Their plenums definitely do just that and this gorgeous 991 will have some incredible fun taking advantage of it.

They quote $1,095 on their website.

"We expect performance improvements to remain at around 16 HP and 13 foot pounds of torque at the wheels with the 3.8 liter Carrera S model and 14 HP and 12 foot pounds of torque at the wheels with the 3.6 liter Carrera Non-S model."

Since when does the 991 Base Carrera have a 3.6??? IMO it is still a 3.4 they did some good research before writing that on their website!

It's nice that they EXPECT some performance improvement though...

so that is approx. $68.00 /hp. And you have changed the air filter to what looks to be K&N Filter and K&N advertises that their filter will increase hp. so if you like it buy it, otherwise never mind

I doubt that this increase in HP/tourque will be perceptible. The sound difference may be noticed. IMHO, not worth the trouble....

From the photos, the internal and external shape looks identical, with the intake and exit the same diameter.
The original plastic interior is smoother than the cast aluminum.

This is not the plenum. The plenum is the induction component that goes from this distribution "T" to the cylinders.

So how exactly will you increase hp and torque?
Even the the GT3 has the same torque as the 991S, so what makes this product so special.

Try a dyno test with and then without any filter and see what you get. Not much. Some extra induction sounds.

And while we are at it, I have some ocean front property in Arizona for a great price!
