Default Just about ready to order a C4S

I have a couple questions.

1st, about the car itself. I'm debating on whether or not to get a Cabrio. 2 concerns are my wife's hair, and road noise.

My wife's hair is about to the middle of her back. We followed an SL500 for a few miles recently, and the woman had hair about as long as my wife's. It was whipping all over the place. I talked to a salesman at a local Porsche dealer who told me this isn't the case with a 911 Cabrio. With the windows and wind screen up, there is no wind inside the car. He also said there is very little road noise with the top down, can carry on a normal conversation. True? How is the road noise with the top up? I'm looking for some real life experience with these.

My other question is about the ordering process. I'm looking for late March/early April delivery. He told me I need to order by about the 1st week of Oct. How much off of MSRP can I reasonably expect? If it makes any difference, I have 4 dealerships within about 25 miles.

TIA everybody!!

Have your wife wear a hat or a squinchy (I thinks that's what they're called).

Percent off MSRP? How skilled of a negotiator are you????

I have a Cab and my wife also has long hair (to her shoulder blades). With the integrated wind screen (which is very slick by the way) she does not have any issues.
With top up, no signif road noise. Just the sweet engine

There is no wind issue. When negotiating the price figure out the cost to the dealer and work up from there. If price is a significant issue then look into buying one from stock over the winter toward the end of November. Dealer allocations incentives and trunk money are at their highest around then and you can get a great deal.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Skilled negotiator? Probably average, maybe a little better. For new vehicles, I'm used to GM dealers, with the price pretty much set in stone. (My dad is a GM retiree.) I usually get a little better than the set price.

Price isn't really a significant issue. I just hate to spend any more than I have to. If I figure out 6 months later I paid $1000 too much, not a big deal. $10,000 though, and I'm gonna be pissed.

How do I found out dealer cost?

We have a C4S Cab due in two weeks. 3rd Porsche Cab for me. Got 8% on special order. Shopped 5 dealers and one who sold me Audi and last Panamera got the nod. Did promise early allocation which was not really the case and did get a 10% deposit.

8% huh? Cool! About $10-11,000 depending on if I go with the Cab. Good news!

I traded a 2010 C2S on a 991 C2S cab. The cab is as quiet as the coupe. With the top down, the wind screen does its' job. There is very little wind in the front seats. You can carry on a tel conversation at 60mph with the the top down.

Something else about the new cab is the roof line. It is the same as the coupe. The round top is gone. There are also magnesium plates inside the roof for rigidity and sound proofing. I'm not sure if the magnesium plates are something new.

You will love this cab with the top up or down.

I ordered April 20 and took delivery July 16.

I can't get past the hump in the back of the cab which is why I went with a coupe. Just my $0.02

Look, I just bought a 2014 C2S Cab, and there is some wind in the cockpit. Not bad with the windows up and the wind screen up, but I gotta say that setup looks so dorky in a convertible going down the road.

I'd either tell your wife there is some wind to deal with and have her do whatever she needs to do to secure her coif, or buy a Coupe with a sunroof.

If you buy the Cab, get the ventilated seats and the heated seats options.

On price, I bought my car off the lot, and I got $10K off MSRP of $130K.

My Vert.

I'd love to be able to take a car off the lot, but I haven't been able to find what I want. Nearly everything local has PDK. Manual is an absolute for me. The convertible was actually the wife's idea. That's 1 of the things that I don't really have a preference on. I've never had ventilated seats, but this car will have them. I've resigned myself to ordering. While I'm at it, I'm going to get what I want. A year from now, I don't want to be saying, "I wish I would have gotten ventilated seats," for example.

Nice ride, btw!
