Default 991 Agate ClearGuardX Paint Protection Film

We are constantly preaching quality when it comes to paint protection film. There are many options between custom and precut installers. However, even within those same categories, quality is not universal. The most important to consider when having your car protected is the quality, experience, and the attentiveness of the installer. Instead of explaining it, here are the photos of a 2014 Porsche 911 in Agate:

Too bad the finished product no longer looks like a great paint job (and it's not just your product but them all), it's a 911 in a shrink wrap.

I agree. And after a few years, they dull and look awful and are difficult to remove. I actually think that clear bras are a gimmick. I understand why people want them and,
while they may keep the paint perfect, how good will the car look with perfect paint after the weather effects the clear bra?

I saw clear bra on the front of an '09 Carrera after 4 years and 40,000 miles and the clear bra made the car look dull. Almost like a mat dull silver finish.

All of my cars in the past 7 years have been done through Premier and they do not use cheap material. It's the cheapo stuff that turns yellow and dull over time. 2 out of the 6 cars I've done with Premier are now over 80k miles each and they both look like the 1st day I've had it done. And, the good products have a glass like look and feel to it that basically looks just like paint. I can't count how many times I've been asked at Santana Row & Cars & Coffee about how I maintain my paint without a clear bra because I don't have rock chips.
YMMV when it comes to outcome. I've tried several companies before using Premier and the difference in quality is night and day.

I too just had my agate grey done by a quality shop. I'm outside of Boston so I had Unique Auto do my entire car. I couldn't agree more that if you use a quality material and an experienced shop the results can be amazing. I had mine topped with opticoat so keeping my car looking great is very easy. They used xpel btw. I can post pictures but it looks very similar to what you see above. Most people don't believe me when I tell them because they can't see anything.

Most of us have owned many cars and we've seen the sand blast effect after a few years. Here on the east coast the sand after a snow storm can give your car a whole new look quickly.

I plan on keeping my car long term so to me it was well worth it.

Technology in paint protection films are very different than products of even just 5 years ago. The advancements in urethane and coatings allow for the products to be extremely durable and extremely clear as well. Simply put, it is not saran wrap.

When installed properly, especially with a crafty custom installer, the product can be very difficult to locate and identify.

Yeah, but these products would never stand up to show quality scrutiny ( I'm a AACA Antique Automobile Club of America Master Judge, and I know). The original Porsche 991 paint is show quality. What a shame to cover it up.

Quite general of a statement and a bit unfair to criticize our installation and standards when you have never seen our work in person. In addition to throwing us under the bus of all "products" to critique when it is quite likely you have seen work sub-par to ours. We have been doing this longer than any company in the industry and are well known for work that is superior to any out there. So with that said, we just ask that those who criticize to please not make generalized statements.....especially when you have not seen our work in person. We take pains to providing close up shots like these to show the level of attention and detail that has made us well-known for custom installations. These photos are taken with SLR cameras at high resolutions for the very purpose of showing how our installations are different from others.

Again, please no generalizations here. Thank you Key Left.

He didn't criticize your install; he just said the product doesn't stand up to show quality. I don't know of any show cars that have clear bra but nothing would surprise me.

The end product is the culmination of both the installation and product. He is making a very generalized statement with: "these products would never stand up to show quality scrutiny".

Both product quality and installation skill will make a world of a difference in the results. Here is a black R8 V10 with the entire hood done.
