Question 991 Battery Maintainer?

My dealer says my old Porsche battery maintainers (used with 997,996 and Cayman R) cannot be used with new 991. I suspect 500 mAmp not enough?? What chargers are other 991 owners using? I've read general recommendations for CTEK Multi 3300 but nothing was said about it working with 991. Are the 991 cigarette lighter and other 12V outlets hot when the car is shut off? If not that type of adapter won't work. Will appreciate help and advise, Jim B

My SA threw a charger in when I got the car. Not sure if it is different than the old ones. He said plug it in the passenger footwell plug and keep the door closed. Have not used it yet. This winter will be the first use.

It works.............................................Try it! Just plug it into the passenger side footwell outlet. The lights will tell you if it is charging.

I bought the Porsche CTEK from the dealer and have used it a few times by plugging it in to the cigarette lighter socket (got the smoking pkg) and running it out of the car thru an open window. It is slightly warm to the touch when charging. I'm using it less and less frequently as I'm questioning the need for it very often. I mainly drive around town ( 2-3 days a week) and when I do plug it in, it reaches full charge within an hour or two. Seems to be more piece of mind to this point than a necessity.

I need to leave my 991 in the garage for several months (will be out of country). Can I leave the CTEK on for that length of time?

I am using the same Porsche battery charger that I used on my 997. I plugged it in to the cigarette lighter outlet. Indicator light on charger turns green after a while so I assume it is charging.

I was given the Porsche one by my salesman on delivery of the car in March. Haven't used it yet but will be in a month or so. I can't seem to find the footwell charging point. Where exactly is it (can't find it noted in the manual either)?

John in Vancouver, 12V outlet is high on the passengers side "transmission" tunnel and is powered in the off position so a good place to plug in. On the back of your Porsche charger does it say what the amperage is? Probably 1.25 amps.
Please say hello to Stanley Park for me, I used to travel to Vancouver often always looked forward to running around the park- beautiful setting. Jim B

I have a Porsche battery maintainer 2006 vintage. Do I need to replace it?

Has anyone attached the pigtails from a Smart Tender to the battery? If so where did you run the connector end for easy access?

Found the 12V outlet (went to the dealer and had them show me on one of their cars. Checked it out and of course it's there I just must have been having a "blind" attack. I'll check the amperage but it is the Porsche version. Stanley Park if quite fine and says hello back. I drove through it yesterday!

I bought a Noco Genius G3500 and used it over the winter with no problems. I had it plugged into the lighter socket in the console, and it worked with no fuss.
