Since moving my V1 into my new 991 C4S, I get a near-constant low level x-band alert. Anyone know why? I've never had this issue using it in any of my other cars.

Do you have Lane Change Assist in your 991? It will cause the V1 to false in X-band. There is a way to disable the POP feature on the V1 which will eliminate this problem. If you think this is your issue follow the reprogramming instructions in the link below. You want to turn off feature "J".
BTW since LEO's very seldom use X band you could also disable it, although some stationary radar speed warning signs still use it I think. Anyway, X-band is feature "1".

Is your detector hardwired or plugged into a 12V accessory socket? Whichever it is you could try the opposite. Sometimes the detectors lose calibration; I just had one repaired by Valentine (for free) when I thought it was kaput and it just need to be re-calibrated. But then you say it works fine in other cars. Running out of ideas....sorry.

I may send it back to get checked then. It does seem to be operating a little differently than before, i.e. less false alerts when not in the 991. For the 991, I will be going to a Bel STiR Plus in a few weeks anyway, but was still interested in why the V1 behaves this way in this particular car.

Something similar happened to me when I hardwired a V1 into my 996TT. Turned out I had the polarity reversed. Switched the wires to the opposite and it cleared the issue.

I have it plugged it to the 12V socket.

No issues on mine in a fully optioned 991S. Also x-band is still in use in many underfunded police departments. Recommend contacting Valentine in case your instrument is out of spec (applies equally to V1, Escort, or any detector).

I do not have any issues with my V1 using the power connector in the passenger footwell.
As far as X band, I ignored a signal a few years ago thinking it was some alarm or door opener. I found out the hard way that our State Troopers still have some X band radar.
