Recent St. Louis ATC conversation with pilots ...
St. Louis approach to United: "United 126 best forward speed to the marker, you're number one."
United 126 (male voice): "Roger, ***** to the wall."
St. Louis approach to American: "American 4521, you're number two behind the United 737, follow him, cleared visual, best forward speed."
American 4521 (female voice): "Well I can't do ***** to the wall but I can do wide open."
-Radio silence-
Unidentified Pilot (male voice): "Is American hiring?"

Little known fact: the "*****" in question are the ones on the ends of the throttle levers, and the "wall" is the firewall. So she could do both.

I'm really lovin the new cayman s but was told optioning one out at $91,000 makes no sense. The rave reviews this car receives is based on the bang for the buck being in the $70k price range. After building a 2014 carrera s at $118k I guess I'm asking which makes more sense? Btw, this will be my first Porsche. any opinions will be appreciated.

I traded in my 2009 Cayman S and bought a brand new base 991 in December for $78K! My 991 has a bunch of luxury options, no performance options and a manual transmission. I haven't missed my Cayman S on the track, autocross or street at all. I drive my cars everyday to work, on the track and at autocross. The 991 is better than my Cayman S in every way.
Stupid stuff like the 991 electric parking brake and ABD fade away when you feel the grip differences coming out of corners in the 991. The 991 suspension is better. The 991 engine is better with more torque and horsepower. The extra weight in the 991 is less than the weight of a passenger. The daily comfort in the 991 is better. Better, better, better.
I owned two Cayman S (1st gen 54K miles, and 2nd gen 56K miles) and neither of those cars come close to my 991.
The new Cayman is OK under $65K, but it is no 991. $91k for a Cayman is simply ridiculous. For that money, get a 991S with no options!
