Hi everyone, Thought I should share this. A better look at the upcoming Targa, now without the roof on.
Notice this car also has the Sportdesign mirrors, so probably they will be in the configurator for the other 991 cars soon.

Looks Boxsterish I think-and why is that dude driving around town with the spoiler up?

If it wasn't for the new mirrors this car looks just like the disguised prototypes from last year - and since they again used the cab body and cut lines it still appears the rear glass might somehow be retractable... but I'll believe it when I see it!

The rear glass will not be retractable the camo is just to disguise the shape of the rear glass. If the rear glass was retractable than it would be a convertible with a bar going over the top there is no point in that. That's why they made a convertible, this will be exactly as the older targas with the lift off roof, my only guess is the lift off roof maybe will fold in half for easier storage.

WCE is referring to the cut line in the bodywork extending from the rear spoiler, forward over the rear wheels, and to the 'targa' bar - the same as the cabrio, and very different from the coupe. I doubt the rear glass folds, but I am sure the targa roof will somehow be electrically retractable, as others have surmised in other threads with drawings and diagrams. No way they are going back to the 1960s design with a lift-off roof in a $100k+ car.

I don't think it is such a strange idea. One would have a car that can be transformed from a coupe into a targa or into a convertible with a bar over the top., just like the original.
Three cars in one...

You are correct about the early targas having the rear plastic section being able to unzip and fold away, that was really cool. However the 991 targa will have a glass rear window so that will not be possible! As far as the top being able to electronically retractable I just don't see it, to me they will use the lightweight feature of the current convertible top and it will be a manual lift off but be extremely durable, extremely light and be able to fold in half to be stored very easy in the bonnet! That's my story and I am sticking to it!

But I've seen some crazy drawings from a guy of a window that would slide away under the "convertible hood" with a Targa roof that could be manually removed like you said. He had it all worked out. I've searched google, but can't find it anymore. Somehow it looked like it made sense, allthough I doubt if it will be that way.
But the idea wasn't bad at all.
The car in the video is a wide body. Based on a Carera 4 cab (if you look closely you see that the lightbar is painted black).
