991 headroom - sunroof delete
Dear All,
I have searched but can't find the answer. The 991 with sunroof has great headroom for tall guys, except at the back of the aperture where the roof is lower due to a ridge. Does sunroof delete provide more headroom across the roof as in prior models, or is the height at the level of that ridge all the way back? I can't find a delete to sit in. Many thanks!

For what it's worth, the sunroof opens outwards.
When completely open it ends up on the outside of the vehicle, just over the top of the rear window.
I am not sure it creates any less headroom when added as an option.
In hindsight, I would not have opted for a sunroof based on all the rattles and squeaks that come with it.

No rattles or squeaks so far...almost 5 months now. Highly recommended sunroof. I don't think there's an impact in rear head room.

The rattle. My car is like driving a vault with the sunroof closed or in pop-up position, but rattles like crazy when fully open. Of course it depends on the road, on glass smooth highways it's quiet, but go over any small ripples on surface streets and it sounds like a percussion instrument.
I asked them to check it at my first service appointment and they told me all they can is check for anything loose, then grease the pivot points, which they did. It's obvious from examination that nothing is loose, but the extra grease did little to quell the shakes. I would consider it a consequence of the design, hanging a piece of metal or glass out like that is just going to be prone to quivers. If anyone has any ideas I can do myself (besides the standard "take it to the dealer") I'd like to know.
PS: I bought a lot car, had I ordered I would have seriously considered not getting it. I do use it some, but even with its "outside the car" operation, the opening is still pretty small.

No sunroof rattles or shakes here, closed or open in 13 months and 13.5k miles. I use the pop up in back feature consistently and the full open option mostly at less than highway speeds because like every sunroof it it noisy above 60.

+1...small opening. I'd skip it.

Have a glass sunroof on a March 2013 C4S. Rattled like crazy in any position from new. The OPC looked at it and found a loose harness which they have re-routed and it's now noise free. Surprising how the factory let the car out in such quality.

No sunroof rattles open, tilted, or closed. Use the tilt feature often. 991S, 10k km.
May 14/12 build which was just 2 weeks shy of 2013 models seems to have most of the early build issues sorted out.

FWIW, I like my glass roof. I might change my mind when and if the rattles come. Less than 3,000 miles currently.

I ordered my 2022 CS2 with no sunroof. I did not want the weight that high and don't use them in my other cars with them. If I did not track my car maybe a glass one. My salesperson thought it would impact resale value, which I doubt. Nor did i care, I plan on keeping it for along time anyway.
Regarding headroom I'd suspect there is a little more room without the mechanism even if it does open out.
