So Sat am, Im cruising on the highway at 70mph, PDK in 7th, NORMAL mode, windows down, AC off . Ambient temps in the hi 70's. I notice the OIL temp rising and it levels off at 232F. My 997.2 use to level off at less than 200F. DOes this seem high to anyone else?

Now, after reading a new threads and talking with some people I've heard (hearsay) a few things:

1. the 991 new heat mgmt system allows the car to warm up quicker decreasing emissions. However, once the engine reaches operating temps, ~200F, why would it continue to rise?
2. If SPort/Sport + is engaged the ECU tells the engine to run cooler. In a weird sort of way this makes sense to me but how does this happening? Is the intergrated oil sump recycling faster and/or the thermostat fully opening?
3. Higher Oil temps means that the Oil is thinner. Thinner oil equals less emmission.

Perhaps all the above are true, and 230F is the new normal oil temp. I just found it be quite a jump from the 997.2.

I see mine generally running 225 or so. I think it got to 235 or so on the track.

When warm, mine runs just below 220 to a little above 230.

This actually caught my attention the other day and I thought about posting a similar question. I can't comment on it in comparison to the 997, but it's starting to heat up here in Central Texas and I was out running one of my favorite backroads last Sunday and I noticed the oil temps spiked up to 268F pretty quickly after a couple of admittedly hard runs, all in Sport+. I'll admit that was getting higher than I was comfortable with so I backed off and called it a day. I did notice it drop 30F within a matter of minutes. Coolant temp stayed on 200F like clockwork, in fact it always does.

I'm doing another DE this weekend and I'm slightly concerned about running the car that hard in what will be significantly higher ambient temps than my last.
