When my car was new I did hit 250 km/hr and even touched 260km/hr a few times. But now with tires older at 29,000 kms I don't feel comfortable going much over 180 km/hr, that's around 110 mph. I worry that if a tire bursts at such speeds, I am history.

Some years ago I was driving in France. Most of the highways there are toll roads. When you joined the road, you received a paper ticket. When you left the highway, you paid a toll based on the distance covered. The ticket also listed your entry time, which allowed for a quick calculation of your average speed. This is when I discovered speeding fines in France are due immediately and in cash. As we had spent all of our French currency as this point, the toll operator was nice enough to provide us with a copy of a hand drawn map to the nearest ATM in the local town.

and you didn't explain the effect of time dilatation, black holes, universal gravitation and relativity on time spent in Porsche automobiles? My trips always seem to short. Huh, and I alway thought that Porsche altered the laws of physics just as they altered the laws of sane economics

...sorry to hear about your ticket...

If it was your buddy who pegged the 911, maybe he does have a medical condition.

165mph at the tri-oval at Daytona with a 250lb passenger, street tires and the radio playing. I needed more track to get to 191. Maybe I should have skipped the bus stop. Next time I will try that!

Best I've done (on the Autobahn) is 265kpm (164 mph) with the top down on a base 991 Cab last May then 295kpm (183 mph) with a 991S coupe on the Autobahn in Southern Germany last September. Wife was not pleased with the latter "run"
