911 vs Cayman debate

Had a base 2009 Cayman. Loved it. Magic.
Now have a 991 C2S. Superb.
Just got back from the dealership to see the newly arrived Cayman in person for the first time. They had one in red and one in white.
Can't love it. New body styling doesn't do it for me like the previous generation.
Oh well. Maybe someday I'll drop a 3.8 into a Cayman.
Now have a 991 C2S. Superb.

The new Cayman (981) isn't stunning like the old one (987).
On the other hand, the new Boxter (981) is far more beautiful than the old one (987).. Go figure.

what's happening is that the strong horizontal lines work on the boxter as it's a roadster.
on the cayman, those lower-level horizontal lines don't gel with the curves up top, and they
subsequently put in some sharp lines in the middle of the sexiest hips in all the auto industry...
therefore, ruining the design.
the 987 is lithe, sensual, sinewy.
the 981 is fat, podgy and obnoxious.
then you get in the interior and see all that chrome, blingy crap and the unique font on the instruments has gone and the interior doesn't fit like a glove anymore.
then you get out and see those 20 inch rims and it's game over.
no class whatsoever.
the dynamics may be good, but it looks/feels generic.

Admittedly, when shown to non-Porsche folks I am told...it looks a lot like your "old" one!

In my opinion you can't go wrong with either car. My intention was to order a 991 cabrio, until I test drove a 981 Boxster S. Although I liked both cars, it came down to price: the 991 cabrio was priced almost $30K more than the 981. The 991S cabrio is priced too high for my budget . Although it's an arbitrary number, I set a ceiling of $100K for what I'll spend on a car.
