Default Help me decide: C4S vs C2S Cab

My first Porsche two years ago was a Boxster Spyder, I prematurely sold it in effort to get a more practical vehicle for the new kiddo.

Long story short, I am looking to get back into another P-car and have narrowed it down to two vehicles:

C4S Coupe
C2S Cab

Basic requirements:
7MT, sport exhaust, sport techno wheels, any color BUT black are my basic requirements. Sadly enough this narrows it down to roughly 2 cars in the state of Texas that fit these specs.

Coming from the Spyder what would be the better fit? I've driven both, but favoring the C2S cab a little. However, the C4S looks damn good in my opinion and it might be nice to have a coupe for once.

I can't consider another boxster or cayman because I need the rear seat.

Suggestions? I'll hang up and listen.

Not sure why 2S versus 4S. Is your question just on the cab versus coupe or is there more to your comparison?

They just happen to be the top two that I have found on the ground. I would consider a C2S as well just haven't come across any locally that fit my spec. Plus I like the wider look of the C4S coupe versus the C2S coupe.

I have a 991C2s with the options you want and have been well pleased after 17k+ miles since June 2012. The back seats are fine for my grandkids and the occasional short ride for small adults. But, I'm not a fan on awd sports cars. Especially if you plan to do any PCA DE track events where 2wd is just more fun. As far as buying a cab, be aware that the PCA will not let you drive a cab on the track unless you install roll bars, which would do away with your rear seat needs and are rather ugly for a street car.

Have the dealer do a search for you. You don't have to buy a car in TX only. They can provide more options and swap with another dealer, if they take the time. If not, find another dealer. A dealer can re-route a completed car as long as it has not left Germany. It will take 3-4 weeks to get here but better than driving a car you dont love.

Unless you are thinking you need awd for the weather I'd go with a 2S. The extra width, a little more than an inch, is really not very discernible for the extra 6K. Most supercars are in the 76 inch wide range, now that's a difference. If you really want to make a statement and have room for your grandkids, get an FF.

I chose the 4S for the rear illuminated strip and the wider hips. AWD is also a nice bonus at times, and I like the "meatier" steering feel of the 4S.

You can drive a cab at PCA DE events with no roll bar installation.
BMW doesn't let you.
C2S lighter and more fun to drive. C4S wider rear and strip look great. Won't go wrong with either.

If you "need the rear seats for the kiddo", wouldn't the Coupe be better then the Convertible ? Doesn't the convertible have les comfoy rear seats (less rake ?) ?

Drive a 991 manual cab with sport exhaust on and the top down. After that I couldn't go back.

That must really be intoxicating.

Yeah I think C2S cab is the way I'm gonna go. Working with some dealers now to locate one.

As noted by bccars, the back cab rear seat leans forward. When they get old enough to talk, they'll complain. I had to switch to a coupe for that reason. I have a 991 c4s with a glass sunroof. With that open, it's 50% as good as the cab - and closed, the glass is 100% better than the opaque cab top.

Our child seat (Cybex Aton) fits quite well, and can use the Isofix latch that is now available on the 991. Also the with the Cab and the top down, I can just come from the top in rather than through the door. Already lugged my seat to the dealer to test fitment

Thanks for this info - and smart move on testing fitment! We are newly married and trying for our first. The 991 with it's Isofix latches was a real part of the consideration!
