Haha, don't worry. It's also possible I wasn't clear. My concern was that NOT ticking the smokers package would mean this accessory below would have not be able to work in my car. I have been informed above there is a slot on the passenger side underwell.

Sorry to disagree, but all cars get the outlet in the back of the console. Mine has never had the smoking package and that outlet is there and I've confirmed it switches off after the 30 minute or so delay. Maybe this will help reduce the confusion: Suncoast sells a retrofit to add the smokers package to the car. It requires replacing both the tray and adding wiring for the lighter outlet that sits inside the smoker's tray as shown here. This is apparently the only interior outlet that Porsche recommends for the charged.
Thanks for the correction. But now I'm confused. If you don't get the smoker's package, then there's an outlet but it's inside the console to the rear? I've never seen a car without the smoker's package so am curious. And why would anyone need the wiring harness sold by Suncoast if there is already wiring for power in the console?

Anyway, at least we have clarified that regardless, the console mounted outlet times out after 30 min. and can't be used for a CTEK or other charger. But, you can use the socket in the passenger footwell.

I use the passenger footwell in my 2015 GTS with the CTEK charger - could not get it to work with the smokers outlet.

there IS a cigarette lighter somewhere in the car to be able to plug my phone in for charging.

Will someone comment?
to charge a smartphone, simply plug it into any of the car's USB connectors ... no need to use a cigarette lighter adapter.

I have a 2016 GTS with smokers pckg and use the lighter port with my CTEK and it works perfectly. I had the car stored in my garage from March to mid April and it started right up with a fully charged battery 👍

I just wired my Valentine One to the power port in the glovebox of my 991.1. I assume this also turns off after 30 minutes as well correct? The V1 doesn't pull a lot of current but I would prefer not to come out a dead battery. Thanks in advance!

yep, it will turn off by itself in around 30 mins or so, maybe sooner

^^^ Yep. I'd suggest just observing it for yourself if you want full peace of mind. I went out and looked in the windows about every five minutes until it turned off... testing both a locked and an unlocked car. Unfortunately I forget the times now but it wasn't anything to be concerned about.

My 2017 C4S with the smokers package has a 12v socket in the console, and another in the passenger footwell. I use the console socket for various purposes: the charge-o-mat pro, occasionally charging mobile phones, and I also have an Amazon Echo Dot in the car so I can ask Alexa things while I drive. Things that draw power are cutoff after 30 mins or so when the car is turned off. The charge-o-mat works without being cutoff.

The USB ports (console and glove box) don't seem to be high power and will not run more power hungry devices (such as the Amazon Echo Dot).

I also have the luggage net in the passenger footwell. The passenger footwell socket is tough to get to, so I sometimes leave a cable plugged in there when not actively in use and tuck the unused end into the footwell luggage net. I can reach that from the drivers seat, but I can't reach the 12v socket easily.

I plug the CTEK into the passenger footwell outlet and it has maintained a charge for 6 months while we were in New Zealand. I plug my Apple cell phone into the receptacle in the glove box. It charges but much slower than if plugged into the wall.

Should I be concerned if the charger does not meet the criteria for "LESS than 0.63 inches from the ground connection to the top of the charger" as specified on p112 of the owners manual (2017 991.2 c4s)? My escort redline charger and cell phone charger definitely don't meet that guideline (as does the picture of the cell phone charger in one of the prev posts). The manual says this may damage the 12V electrical system. Any engineers out there able to confirm how big a risk this may be?

Is this only available from the dealer or can buy from outside too?
