Question Help me with a buying decision

Hello all, first post here.

I am currently trying to decide between two possibilities:

1) 2012 997 turbo. Lots of upgrades, one owner. Reasonable pricing. Low miles

2) Build my own 2013 991 S. Would have my choices, colors etc. but I would lose big on the inability to negotiate for price.

About equal price between the two choices give or take 5K.

I have never actually driven a turbo, love the drive of the 991 S.

Opinions?
Thanks in advance.

Get the 991. It's fresh and new. 997 looks dated next to it. And the additional speed rush of the turbo will wear off as your body and mind adapt to it.

The turbo is fast, comfortable, used and dated. The 991S is fast , comfortable, new and state of the Porsche art. Do the math...

I've just traded a 2011 997 Turbo in for a Carrera 2S two weeks ago. Whilst the turbo was insanely quick, the reality is in today's road driving conditions, I cannot justify the need for the 500HP. The 991 C2S is an awesome drive. The updated interior does give the car a premium feel over the older models. Whilst the 991 will probably depreciate quicker than any previous 911, I'm pretty sure, with the GT3 and Turbo coming out soon, the 997 Turbo prices will start to fall quite rapidly. My opinion would be to go with the 991 my friend.

991.

I was deciding btw a 997 GTS and 991 Carrera - same decision at a lower price point - and I went with the 991. I'm glad I did.

If you have always yearned for a Turbo, and the price is right on the 997 then buy it. Drive it like crazy and get it out of your system, maybe you'll love it and keep it. The 991 is simply a better platform, very fast and more usable, both on the road, and fast at the track.

I would spec a 991 the exact way you want it, and get it. I think if you really wanted the Turbo, you would have been more decisive, the fact that you're unsure makes me think you should get the 991.

Good luck, no wrong decision here, just pick what's right for you.

Buy the 991. Turbo will feel old quickly.

991. i recommend you post in the 997turbo forum, just so you get everyone there to recommend the turbo. that will really make your decision tough!

no worries, these are wonderful "problems" to have!

I disagree with most posters and say the twin turbo would be more fun to have as dd. Enjoy either one as you can't go wrong.

That's some serious thought and deliberation...
