question for all two plate rennlisters - have you actually ever been pulled over for the lack of a plate?

I'm in TX......never happened to me and never heard of it.

I haven't been pulled over in my 991 yet, because I haven't owned it that long. I get pulled over quite regularly in my Z4. There's a cop that pulls me over regularly, walks up with a big grin on his face, reminds me that he recognizes my car and that I still don't have a front plate. I get a ticket, pay it, and move on.

This is my approach, as well ^^^. I'd rather pay some tickets than drill the front bumper. And I have not seen an appealing alternative solution. Even if I were to find one, I just think a license plate on the front of a 911 looks bad.

I had my dealer install the Skene bracket on the bottom rubber lip. The bottom of the plate is level with the rubber lip. Looks good and the only holes are in the rubber which can be replaced for $150.00.

Can you post pictures, please? I just ordered one of these and am curious of the different mounting options. Nice to know there is a way to install it without drilling through paint!

I don't know how to post pictures because I'm old and as dumb as a bag of hammers.

The short bracket is designed to move the plate up and down. and it also swivels front and back. This makes it very easy to install on the bottom rubber and still have the plate straight without touching the bumper.

This is really simple but well thought out.

No worries, thanks. It looks to be well designed - I should be able to figure it out as I go.

I have a 991 turbo and have the rennline towhook mount, it interferes with the parking sensor so I turned the plate sideways so that it is now vertical. No longer interferes but now everyone tells me my plate is messed up. I just ordered the Skene one. I live in NYC and they love to get you as you go through the bridges and tunnels. You are a sitting duck especially when there is a lot of traffic.

Good to know - I'll be using mine to occasionally commute into the city.

The brackets arrived yesterday, but still waiting on the plates. I can update this thread after install if folks think it will be useful.

If you didn't have parking sensors, would you recommend the Rennline one? Good design, adjustability, build quality?

Default yes I recommend the rennline

The rennline mount is excellent quality, the way it mounts is pretty cool because it allows you to angle it anyway you want. And like some of the others it has lots of different mounting positions. Unfortunately if you have the parking sensors you are either covering the fog light or the sensor. So it is not an option.

Thanks for the advice / input. I'm hoping I don't get a fix it ticket, but if I do, I'll pick one of these up...

I have both parking sensors and adaptive cruise. (No idea why the dealership sold me adaptive cruise in the bankrupt commune of Illinois. On the other hand, yes I do know. For the $2,000.)
Is there an option for me that is no drill? I don't care about aesthetics, being off center, or aero, but I would like to keep radiators uncovered. Thanks

txhoosier,

I've now been pulled over 4 times in the last 6 weeks by the State Patrol. Each time I was issued a correction notice (fix it ticket). And after each stop I screw on my tow hook plate and drove to a Sheriff's substation for their inspection and sign-off.

I'm retired and use by 991 as my daily driver. Its becoming a pain to get stopped on city highways and freeways. Local police and sheriff ignore me but not the State Patrol. Thinking about biting the bullet and adding the official plate mount to the front.
