How did you get a copy of this letter? I am impressed. Thumbs up for this forum for providing such in-depth knowledge... on top of debates over whether or not the 991 is too big.

Those VIN numbers don't make match my 3/12 build Carrera - but maybe that explains why the muffler hasn't fallen off?
According to the news report, no one has muffler falling off. Porsche lab test showed the exhaust could crack after 25,000 miles. This is clearly in lab controlled conditions with accelerated testing. If your car already has 25k miles, what the engineers are saying is based on their tests, your exhaust has the risk of falling off. But even that is not saying it will fall off, just the risk is significant enough to justify a recall.
For those of you upgrading to PSE, why didn't you order it in the first place? Is it cheaper to upgrade later? Is there any performance gain or just for sound? I am ordering a C2 now, greatly appreciate any input.

1. Oversight, shortsite or bought from stock?
2. More expensive to upgrade later.
3. Porsche does not advertise a performance gain (but the sound is worth it IMHO).

Bought mine from the lot. So it wasn't there. However, I can say I can live without PSE, although I think it is a fun thing to have. But when you get a brand new Porsche, you always look for things to upgrade... rims, wheels, lights, spoilers... it's addictive.

Yeah, I ordered the base 19" because I knew I will likely put aftermarket wheels and tires on. So we are on the subject, I also ordered the 5mm spacers, anyone know if the spacers will work with aftermarket rims? If not are they easy to remove and reinstall? I ordered them because there is still a chance I will spend money elsewhere than upgrading the 19" rims.

Spacers will work with aftermarket wheels, but its better to remove them. Proper wheels will fit best without spacers.
My 991 is affected by this recall. Local dealer told me that Porsche is willing to pay only for the labor of installing the sport exhaust, but I would have to pay for the exhaust myself. In other words, no credit offered other than the labor which is about $600 I was told.
