Default c2s v c4s

I am about to pull on a new dd and cant decide btw 2 cars my dealer has. I love the body and technology of c4s but like the options of c2s they have better. Both cars are white/blk:

c2s
sport chrono
front sport facia
sport exhaust
pdk

c4s
pdk
leather seats

Both have similar other options...

Let me know your opinions. Have not had a pcar in 5 yrs. I currently have 11 458 and 08 scud.

All depends where you live and how you'll use it. For a daily driver in Colorado, C4S was my choice...weather can change 5 times a day around here.

Why not custom order the car and get the model and options you want. Why compromise when you are spending $100K+ on a car.

i went through the same decision making quandary. in the end i went with the
c2 over the 4.

c2: 'pure' 911 rwd experience, mechanically simpler if you plan to keep long term; still drives perfectly well in inclement weather with winter tires.

c4: wide body is striking! bigger tires in the rear (unless you get sport technos in the c2), useful in poor weather states, but still need winter tires if you plan on driving in snow, you lose a lot of trunk space for the awd hardware if that matters to you.

in the end, i don't live in place where awd is mandatory and my current rwd sports car doesnt have any traction issues for me. so i went with the c2s preferring to spend more money on options than on the awd premium.

i'd also recommend the pse and sport chrono as must have's, so that might push you toward the c2, but i'm sure you can find another dealer with the c4 you want. to each his own, these are wonderful problems to lose sleep over!

good luck!

I would look on Porsche.com "find a dealer" and see who else is within a couple hundred miles and look at their inventory online. Maybe they have a better optioned c4s etc. Your local dealer should still be glad to do the maintenance service. Or if you are loyal, they will get the car for you but may not discount as much given the transport charge (but should still do 3+%, which is not a large discount).

Jmct, Syracuse dealer has a nice guards red C4S. They are good to work with.

Thanks for your feedback. I want to take advantage of lease program and I have a DD coming off lease. I think I am going to go with C4S. I like the way car looks and technology and drive of 4. I will live without SC, the car does nicely in sport and is fine for non track use.

On another note, why do some cars come with clear front turn signals and others not. Mine has but is not noted anywhere on the option list.

a win-win decision! according to my dealer, porsche ships all 911s to usa with the orange side markers. the dealer must have switched them out with clear sides. still oem, just has to be done after taking delivery. it isn't an option, so it doesnt get listed as such.

Wider tires in winter are actually a liability. True winter use of any porsche would require winter tires the performance tires are useless. Many people extole the use of the carrera in snow what they dont mention is the clearance issue. Rutted roads and ice/snow in the center track break VERY expensive front fascias and front suspensions can fall victim to teh car eating potholes we now have in NYC.

I bought the special winter package option for my carrera- check off that box when ordering it gets you a ford explorer

Hey ny991 - I have a '13 c4s due in about 3 weeks. I'm just a little excited about it.

That's great! Take your camera and post a bunch of exterior and interior pics for us to drool over please.

I don't have mine yet, it should be here mid-March. I think ny991 has a "2" not a 4. Maybe Hammer911 has comments although what I have read on other threads I have either seen comments that they are comparable or that people like the increased width and the slightly more grounded steering-feel of the 4 more. It is subjective - you will almost certainly love the 4.

I love the C4 cars, as you can tell by my signature block. Hard for me to articulate, but I do love the "grounded" feel and the "pull" (for lack of a better term) when accelerating hard through and out of sweeping turns and hard corners. I should probably watch my front wheels/rear wheels power distribution screen more closely for confirmation.

PcarFL, the suspense is killing me. Did you go for the one at your dealer or did he locate one for you?
