There was an excellent article on Newey written by Damien Smith that was published in Motorsport in December, and then showed up in Road & Track in February. By any chance is the New Yorker article by him as well?

No pseudonym; it's a different article. The ones in Motorsport and R&T are identical to each other and also well worth reading.
