Default Has anyone tried the new Kuda iPhone 5 - iMega cradle?

Has anyone tried the new Kuda iPhone 5 - KUDA iMega cradle?

It says that it takes the new Lightening connector, integrated into the cradle so you just insert the iPhone 5 and click the latch downward. Sounds similar to the ProClip for iPhone 5, but this Kuda looks more substantial and has a bit more eye-pleasing design factor.

Also a related question: I know several have discounted the importance of the wired connector and just use BlueTooth to connect their music to the Bose system. However, I know that in my BMW X6M and M6 when you hardwire connect to the car's input ports, you also connect to the car's internal cell phone antennae, giving you more bars and a stronger signal on the phone. Does anyone know if that happens in the 991, too?

I would imagine that most of the German car manufacturers source their cell phone/mobile electronics from the same company such as Bosch. Would think/hope this is true for Porsche.

Plus, I cannot imagine that BlueTooth gives you anywhere near the fidelity and sound quality that a wired connection gives. So, I'm looking for a stable, eye-pleasing, functional bracket for my iPhone 5.

I ordered a mount and iPhone 5 cradle from KudaUSA.com and the parts arrived today.

I am very impressed with both the design and the quality.

Once I get everything mounted, I will take photos/video. But in the meantime....

The mount is designed specifically for the 991 and is here: http://www.kudausa.com/porsche-911-9...ack-a1774.html

Holy Crap! I never thought posting this question would lead to such controversey. Anyone who tells you they have not once picked up their phone to look at a text message is not being honest. Right or wrong we have all done it. Anyway I think I have the easiest solution. First I will say I'm one of the few that still uses a blackberry and until they are gone I'm sticking with it. What I am going to do is this take a very small piece of velcro and put its just above the change holder and rest my phone there. I just need the phone to be stay still and be plugged in. It may be slightly ghetto but I think its the easiest solution. I will post pictures.

In my BMW 650 the Nav screen shows when a message has come in on my Blackberry using Bluetooth. The system will only show the sender and subject line if the car is moving. When the car is stopped the whole message can be read. I think there's a way to reply but it's over my head.

I keep my iPhone in my pocket and use Bluetooth. That's the safest way to use a cell phone while driving.

That's probably fine if you have Bose or the base stereo, but I connect directly to get at least respectable audio.

The Bose system in my 991s sounds great! Much better than the Bang & Olufsen system in my Audi S5.If you must have an after-market sound system, most of the ones on the market have Bluetooth capability that will allow for hands-free phone use. I have put such after market systems in a Honda and VW for my daughters.

If you're listening to your music through Bluetooth, you're missing out on what the system should send like. BT audio is terrible.

I thought this post was about a cell phone? I use Bluetooth to talk on my cell phone while driving. For music, I have XM, FM, CD with my iPod is connected in the glovebox for my own playlist.

I couldn't imagine carrying both a phone and an iPod these days - my phone is everything. Hence, my setup with connection to car USB and battery charging.
