News about the upcoming Porsche 911 (991) GT3 have been circulating for well over twelve months now, and the latest reports confirm previous speculation that the car will launch at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show with the first teaser image expected to drop in mid-February.
Additionally, deliveries of the new GT3 are then expected to take place in July-August this year and as many of you would have already known, the GT3 will feature a wider bodykit than the standard Carrera 4S and will only be offered with a PDK transmission rather than a traditional manual gearbox.

Reading that linked article, the thing that stands out for me is "a Teamspeed member got inside info from a dealer." Sheesh, dealers are the last to know stuff like this. They are at Porsche, like any other car company, kept in the dark to avoid leaking information. Just like the "dealer insider" that told a poster here that the 7 speed manual is a dual clutch.

You don't need to rely on the dealer, several youtube vidoes of the new GT3 on the track make it clear -- they are at least testing with the PDK. The upshift is the classic PDK blip. Whether they make that the only option isn't clear.
I understand the raw experience value, but let's face it, the GT3 is meant to go as fast as possible on the track. Why wouldn't we want the best technology to do that. If we want the nostalgia of 7MT -- which I do -- then buy a 991S.
