Yes, my steering does the same thing. Don't notice the smell, though.

Douchler--please let me know how you like the Cayenne Diesel when you get it. I'm trying to talk my wife into one.

Some cars have more than others, I guess it depends on the time of the year the car is shipped and/or ship carrier.
Yup, same here on both my 997.2 and now the 991. It stayed with the 997.2 the entire couple of years I owned it and the 991, isn't as noticable, however it does have the burning rubber smell after being driven hard - especially on a hot day. Life with Porsche

Learn something every day: never heard of Cosmoline. Separately, while standard 911s are low-slung I don't regard them to be exotics in the sense of the usual suspects from Italy & UK. Now a Carrera GT, 911 in GT/RS forms, diff' story. Just my view, mind.

Reviving an old thread - I have the burning rubber on a 2012 991 that I have had for 3 months as a CPO car. 35k miles. Notice it on almost every trip, whether driven aggressively or not. Is this normal for those that have owned their cars a while?

Well, my new 2015 Carrera 4 with 3,000 miles has the "burning rubber" smell. And my 20" Pirelli tires have the little hop when turning out of a parking space. Looks like we are perfectly normal. I like to think of the "burning rubber" smell as the "engine's all warmed up now" smell.

agree on warmed up smell. 20K here and get it after 'spirited' driving otherwise known as my commute. The turning thing obviously is normal. Surprised dealers are not better at explaining it away as just a month ago I had the car in for service and a guy was complaining about it but service guys really did not explain it is normal. My R8 does it worse so already knew what it was the first time it did it back out of the garage and turning.

1. When I try to make U turns, with steering wheel turned to the ends, the car moved with a very jerky motion.. (it reminds me of a 4X4 jeep with differential problems)
2. After driving, I would smell strong rubber odor from the rear wheels.

Please advise..
Oh, the car only has approx. 300 miles in the odometer. It was ordered new, with 17 miles on the odometer.

Thanks in advance.
Same car, here. I do not have any rubber smell, but I have noticed the jerks when the steering is at full lock. This is due to the fact that the turning radius is a bit small, and the wheels a bit wide... nothing to worry about, but surprising for a car in this price range.

I had a 991 4S before and did not notice anything (4 wheel drives are known to have a poorer turning radius... in the 993, it was positively embarrassing to attempt parking in town !!! Had to do it in several goes...

Count me in on the rubber smell, event after a gentle ride around the block. 35k miles on a 2012s.

I had an '03 Boxster that smelled the same way. As far as my experience goes, that smell is all I know.
