991 oil change + belt damage
hello
did an oil change for a friend's 991, was horrified when I saw the belt is split!!
jacked up the car and found out that there is nothing to protect the belt from underneath the car! it's just **** to be damaged if anything is picked up from the wheels..
the picture is shot directly under the car..
now,
i can't think how else this could've been damaged... any experiences like this? would the dealer replace this under warranty?
and.. maybe i didn't search hard enough, but all i had to do to access the oil filter, was to take off the fans and snuggle the old filter out, and the new filter in. (versus the thread that the entire bumper had to be taken off.)
last question asked..
how do i reset the oil service warning on the car?
TIA

They claim their thing can reset the oil service light on a 991.
Anybody tried it by any chance ? (considering to get one for myself).

I have a split belt as well. The split is there for a reason.
This is not damage.
Wide belts are often split (not completely but almost). This reduces friction on the surface of the various drives and pulleys if they are not 100% true as the two halves can move slightly against each other. This leads to longer belt life. It also has a good side effect if the belt breaks - only one part of the belt will break, hopefully leaving the remaining part to get you home.
This is quite standard technique in aviation where I spend most of my time.
