My wife seems to be the only one who dislikes all of the writing on the back of the 991. She was relieved when I told her I deleted the model designation on my build and left it with just the mandatory PORSCHE.

Paul: Moving up to a 991, are you going to order the ducktail option.

By the way I had the opportunity to drive a 991 (base) on the track recently and was impressed. It was quick with precise turn in at the corners and very smooth. Excellent brakes as you would expect and enjoyable engine sound. It is a larger car than my 997.2 which is not really my thing. Fit and finish is typically high quality PORSCHE.

On the negative side the excellent electronic assisted suspension which makes it so smooth also dampens road feel as does the electric assisted steering. With time I guess I could get use but not my cup of tea. The 997 will be in my garage for some time.

Back to the plus I was impressed with the acceleration of the base engine which they reduced from 3.6 to 3.4 liters this tear. Still has 350 hp.

All in all a very nice car that will appeal to a larger market.

I find the argument that the 991 looks so different from its predecessor rather overblown:
