I am sure it will be fine - it needs to be Its just this comfort factor where one turns to the forums for self assurance that one is doing the right thing. Quite bizarre

The difference is however not great - I can only repeat that once again. Most definitely not something to worry about in any way.

Now that sux even more!!!
The only car marque that somewhat does right by its buyers is Audi. Everyone else charges for everything as an option. For cars priced $150K and upwards these options should be standard equipment!
I'll go and cry in the corner now........

Thanks for that I have seen that post before. On 6speed there is another thread with a 981 and 991 next to each other Carrara & White. Quite a good indication of the difference. Is it drastic no but it is there. Can I live with it yes.
Anyone interested its this link here:

When ordering the 2013 back in April for the first slot the dealer had for a manual cab, was not aware the whites were changing. By June with help from this board learned of the new color which some called refrigerator white (kinda demeaning), and became concerned. I believe both whites are very good looking, and frankly the new white has grown on me. Porsche offers such a good array of colors, and I like them all. I picked white for several reasons one being I do believe it is an overall "safer" color. Second, my last two Porsches were black and after I'd wash them the little water streaks that would come out of the back, the tail lights, the license plate area, the side mirors down the doors, would have me touching it up for about 45 minutes after each wash. Don't see that with the white. Third, I like the contrast of the white with the red. Fourth, it was a no charge option. Fifth, I liked the contrast of the black top, with the white, with black tires (duh), and even the black callipers on the base cab. It was a little lower key than the new 2012 "S" I traded in.
After studying the old white with the new white at the dealer, I think the old white has more depth. I think the new white has more reflection. Both are great on the lines of this car. The old is more gray, the new is more blue.
Downsides there are two. Instead of the little water spots, you do notice more of the exhaust grime on the rear end, especially if you are getting on it more. After about 4 days of a heavy foot, you will see some little carbon flecks, which you wouldn't notice with darker colors. The other is the front of the rear wheel flair where there is a protective coating will pick up any dirt on the edge of it, which is tough to get out...so it creates almost like a crease line in front of the rear wheels. With some gentle detailing though it can be almost completely minimized.
Given that I do not believe Carrara (like the marble) white is available for paint to sample...and even if it was would the the $5,500 be worth it to not have this bright beautiful "fridge" white, which 99% of people would not be able to tell a difference. So if you like white, I would say get the white!
