Default Aftermarket wheels

I'm ordering a 991. Going for a very basic driver. Manual based model and avoiding PVT, PASM and PDK. These features that make it easier to drive faster also remove driver involvement. I've had a number of Porsches and want to stay with a more basic car.

The factory wheel choices are disappointing. I really don't like any of the 20" upgrades. The standard 19" wheels look as nice or nicer than the upgrades - IMHO.

Once I wear out the rear tires I plan to make the car a bit more unique by adding aftermarket wheels. My car is a triple black cab.

20" HRE? P40S or P792RS in satin charcoal?

What do you think are the best aftermarket wheels for a 991?

In addition to wheels what other aftermarket changes do you think work well on a 991?

I think HRE is the way to go. I've got a set of P40S for my 991 and they look amazing. If you're going 20" i'd recommend the P40SC. As for other aftermarket stuff, there isn't much out there right now. I'd hold off on the mods till more stuff gets released.

I'll throw out a quick opinion on this since I have a minimum spec Carrera and you are concerned about the looks of the wheels.
Go for the PASM - drops the car a critical 10mm for looks, helps aerodynamics and while it may not improve the ride, at least it can switch to the stiffer mode to stabilize the car when it needs to and gives you a track mode. Also, stick with 19's, gives you some wheel protecting sidewall height and the brakes look less tiny!

I plan to make a few changes in this car including wheels and suspension.

The opinions from the Rennlist wheels forum is that 19" are preferred over 20" for the track.

The base model delivers more of an involved sports car.

No S model PASM, PTV, no optional PDK, PDCC or Sport Steering.

My '87 Targa was one of my favorite cars. After a while I wanted better AC, bixenon lights, window defogging, nav, stereo but missed the non-power steering and road feel. The 991 is more of a GT than a 911, but I want to avoid active damping and want the 3rd pedal.

I have had a very high tech E60 M5. For that car the tech seemed to fit it's "track start in a tuxedo" personality.

I tried a Boxster S when they were first out. Easy car to drive fast, but there's something about a 911. Easiest car to turn great autocross times. Lack of HP made it worse on the high speed and technical Laguna Seca track with worse times than what I did in a 997.

Just order the wheels that you think will be most marketable for you when you change to aftermarket wheels. Then you can recoup some money. Remember, you are getting your choice on the car at a good rate.
