991 Aerokit Installation

You disconnect the wiring at the motor. This prevents accidentally hitting the button or driving over 75. Yes, you will still need to visit a dealer to get rid of the warning.

Unless there is another way that I don't know, you have to bring it in to the dealer to keep from getting an error code. That was the cheapest thing in the transformation.

I'm thinking about getting a Ducktail put on. Speed limit in FL is 70 with mostly straight roads, and I never slide open my sunroof. I only tilt it up. Now, can anyone tell me why I need a special module for the sunroof?

How do u delete a duplicated post? Don't know why the site duplicated my post...

I found instructions online on how to remove the current oem rear spoiler. It looks like it will remove the entire unit including the motor. Is that what I need to do when installing the aerokit spoiler?

09redgts, earlier post stated you don't have to install the module according to one of the dealerships but I figure I like to be safe and just get it since it was in the instructions. It doesn't really say what th new module does with the sunroof. I really assume it is for optimal airflow purposes. Maybe I will also measure where my current sunroof retracts to and then after I can find someone to install the new module, I can see if it affected the sunroof in any way. To install this module you need to remove the seat! My seat has air bag and I would hate for that thing to accidentally go off. 😔

As for the dealership having to do its thing, unless you can find a shop with a PIWIS, I assume you have to bring it to a dealership. The instructions on what to select on the PIWIS is included in the aerokit installation so it isn't too hard. It basically says you need to select aerokit - fixed wing and have the system reboot.

Just to be clear I skipped the sunroof module also and my dealer was cool with that based on my not tracking the car and only spirited driving.
It is recommended to have the module for the tilt of he sunroof to match the new height of the wing for proper aero dynamics. As far as removing the old mechanical standard wing and resetting for no error code, it was a 5 minute job at the dealer and did not delay any of the work.

Me personally, I wanted a totally factory look and install. Did the sunroof module and a new center button console without the rear spoiler button.
Not really necessary, but wanted a clean look and complete install.

Do you remember how long it took to install the module behind the headliner?

Says 167TU but that's for a professional. Sad cuz it takes longer to do that then the actual spoiler installation. Spoiler should be 130TU. And for those vehicles UP TO production week 18 in 2012, which I think is mine, there is another 70TU needed for wire harness for rear-end electronics control unit modification.

Sorry, do not. Was part of the whole package install. Don't think that part is anything major.

Sorry I have a real dumb question. To install the CUP aerokit wing, am I removing the entire "standard" rear active spoiler on a Porsche 991 which means upper cover AND motor unit OR am I only removing just the "upper cover" and not the entire wing assembly with motor? the reason I asked is I originally thought it is the entire wing assembly with motor. And at least twice here, people have warned to ensure I also disconnect the wiring at the motor. So that led me to believe maybe I am not removing the motor then. Can anyone shed some light? The Plenum post removes the entire wing assembly with the motor as described here: http://plenums.blogspot.com/2016/10/...r-spoiler.html
